Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Environment and Infrastructure Solutions has a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced earthworks / enabling works construction lead to join and contribute to our growth in major infrastructure delivery projects.

Wood E&IS play a leading role in the design and early construction planning of a number of critical UK and Europe infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing national infrastructure projects and position us for future opportunities.

You will have a strong track record of delivery and the ability to engage with and influence our clients at a senior level.

The candidate will be an outcome and client focused individual with good interpersonal skills and a track record in delivering innovative solutions for a range of clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for a portfolio of projects for diverse clients but with a focus on major infrastructure
  • Advising clients on most contracting and construction delivery strategies
  • Leading successful major bids, understanding client requirements and delivering innovative solutions
  • Provide technical reviews for all stages of proposals and projects.
  • Support project delivery teams to meet our client’s needs and maintaining sound financial, commercial and programme management and control.
  • Promote development of expertise through seeking innovative technical solutions and initiatives and encouraging participation
  • Experience

  • 20+ years’ post-graduation experience in the field of ground, geotechnical or earthworks engineering.
  • Expertise to achieve development of robust, cost effective designs and assessment using most up-to-date practices.
  • Extensive experience in enabling works construction management.
  • Experience covering a varied range of geotechnical assessment and design such as slope stability, earth retaining wall structures, foundations, earthworks, tunnels and underground structures, site formation and ground improvement works etc. would be beneficial
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering projects in a consultancy and contracting environment;
  • Experience of working in multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Qualifications

  • Degree in civil engineering, engineering geology or other related disciplines.
  • A higher degree in geotechnical engineering, or similar, is desirable.
  • Chartered Engineer status with strong post-chartered experience in geotechnical aspects of infrastructure and other construction sectors;
  • Role is based in London or Reading, but other locations can be considered for the right candidate.
