We are looking for an experienced, collaborative, laboratory-based scientist, with a background in leading biochemistry research or similar, to drive Crop Protection Research projects

Your role will be to :
Develop in vitro biochemical or binding assays to understand how our compounds act on their protein targets
Identify the mode of action of novel lead compounds by applying the latest technologies
Participate in or lead cross-disciplinary lead-discovery projects
Provide solutions to challenging questions, through your experience, awareness of scientific advances and comprehensive literature searching
Independently execute complex programmes of experimental work
Provide high-quality practical advice to others
Introduce new technologies, techniques or ways of working to improve productivity
Line-manage other biochemists
Develop your own network of contacts with relevant internal experts as well as identifying relevant opportunities to collaborate externally
Your skills :
Honours degree (or equivalent) in biochemistry or chemistry
A PhD in biochemistry, biochemical pharmacology, or chemical biology
Further research experience in a relevant industrial or academic environment
Understanding of ligand-binding or enzyme-inhibition assays
Other lab skills would be a plus : experience with biophysical techniques, mass spectrometry-based biochemical assays, protein purification, membrane proteins, organic chemistry
Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and data
A passion and creativity for solving problems
Ability to provide guidance and support to junior staff
Ability to work with and influence others through your scientific knowledge and experience
Experience of line managing other scientists
