The opportunity In this role you will provide consultancy and technical advice and support to clients on strategic and capital development projects in the public sector, with a focus on healthcare.

As a Healthcare Planner you will have a broad technical knowledge and expertise in healthcare / space planning techniques, capacity and demand analysis and modelling and policy analysis.

The role will involve providing strategic and operational healthcare planning advice to clients, supporting the development of business cases for capital schemes, contributing to estates strategies, facilitating data analysis and interpretation and providing project management for Arcadis projects.

You will be expected to lead service delivery on individual projects, including managing client relationships as well as supporting the Business Director / Commission Leader, which carries commercial performance and resourcing responsibilities.

You will be working with a wide range of clients including GP practices, Clinical Commissioning Groups, NHS Trusts / Foundation Trusts, national NHS organisations, other public sector bodies, private sector providers and major contractors.

Mobility and flexibility to travel across the UK will be expected, including staying away overnight as required. Your Day-

to-Day Responsibilities : You will be leading the delivery of healthcare projects / assignments while engaging with key clients and external stakeholders.

Your role will be varied but will include :

  • Lead in planning, analysis and evaluation of current or proposed health schemes;
  • Develop recommendations to improve existing health scheme or substantiate the need for additional projects;
  • Assist in the development and finalisation of estates strategies, business cases and for the delivery of health services and / or capital plans submitted by outside partners;
  • Serves as a liaison across multiple healthcare ecosystem partners and perform related duties as required.
  • Undertake technical healthcare planning as required including but not limited to - strategic analysis, demand and capacity modelling, models of care development, clinical and functional briefing, schedules of accommodation and design reviews;
  • Delegate and assign project work to other members of the team to deliver defined project outcomes
  • Specify and carry out research within client organisations and externally to identify and collect relevant data and information.
  • Structure and perform analyses of data and other information to uncover insights that will inform the project, development of sales proposals and the design of consulting solutions and present findings verbally and / or in writing.
  • Establish the scope / terms of reference of the project with the client and produce project plans and programmes and managing projects effectively
  • Build robust relationships with client team members at peer level and demonstrate the ability to influence client outcomes
  • Facilitate workshops and client meetings and develop stakeholder management and engagement strategies and plans
  • Support the development of business cases for example; developing recommendations for action, undertaking option appraisals, developing the content of particular cases of the 5-case model.
  • Present the outcomes of analyses at team and client meetings to ensure that the insights gained are clearly communicated and propose ways in which these may be leveraged to add value
  • Undertake business development activities including supporting the initial sales process, identify and land farming opportunities, contributing to presentations to clients and achieve against an annual new business development consultancy target;
  • Act as the account lead for individual clients and manage the client relationship ensuring the quality of deliverables and team and commercial performance of the project;
  • About you : You will be an experienced professional with a proven track record in the NHS and a working knowledge of HBN and HTM’s and their application both in design and capacity planning.

    You will also have a number of the following :

  • Have an expert knowledge of NHS and its future programmes.
  • Professional background in clinical, architectural, Health Management or Organisational Development
  • Familiarity with current issues / trends in relation to national health policy and thorough knowledge and understanding of UK health policies, systems, structure and health care service delivery concepts
  • Experience of strategic planning of health services or estates reviews
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills and demonstrable experience in demand and capacity modelling.
  • Knowledge of developing clinical and functional briefs, including schedules of accommodation and design reviews.
  • Excellent consulting skills including project management, client relationship and stakeholder management at middle to senior management level.
  • Understanding of the full capital investment cycle in the NHS, from planning to commissioning, including the approval process and approving bodies for NHS business cases
  • experience of engaging with senior management and / or clinical staff
  • ability to produce high quality reports, presentations and other relevant documentation
