Colt DCS (Data Center Services) Procurement are responsible globally for all DCS 3rd Party Suppliers from a Commercial, Contractual and Relationship Management point of view.
The Procurement team is undergoing a revolution in how it operates and responds to a rapidly growing business. This includes adopting a flexible approach to procurement and developing best practice, adapting existing procedures and processes to make step changes in commercial development within the Company.
The successful candidate will lead the Construction Procurement response for the business across Europe. Work will include liaising with our internal Real Estate and Design teams to establish a programme of projects.
You will undertake sourcing events, conduct procurement projects to meet our programme timetables and make recommendations to the internal leadership teams.
Responsibilities are end to end and cover sourcing, tendering processes, commercial and contractual negotiation through to introducing and operating within Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) frameworks.
Key Accountabilities :
Reporting into the DCS Procurement Director, the primary focus of the role is to provide exceptional Category Management to the Construction category for Europe. This will include :
Leading on procurement of construction for major build projects (new and expanding data centres) from initial concepts, through design, preconstruction services, actual construction delivery and post construction commissioning and handover to operations.
You will work with other industry professionals to help define requirements, to determine procurement strategies, to identify suitable consultants, contractors and suppliers, to draft effective contract documentation, to negotiate terms and conditions, as well as developing effective assessment criteria and methodologies to appoint vendors to our world-
class pipeline of prestige projects.
You will help to analyse bids and present summary information regarding pre-construction professional services, consultancy and related project management and commissioning agent capabilities and offers
You will make contract award recommendations to the business and identify all of the key factors to enable the business to make the logical decisions and to drive best value for each project
Propose and maintain a relevant Construction Category Plan for Europe
Work as part of the global Procurement Team to improve commercial awareness across the Company
Participate in regular team briefings and progress meetings
Record and track savings and assist with initiatives to drive value-for-money projects
Support the global delivery of construction projects from a commercial point of view
Assist Procurement colleagues across Europe and elsewhere with knowledge sharing and lessons learned
What are we looking for?
An experienced Construction Procurement expert, with 10+ years professional experience in leading the full procurement life-
cycle, from initial requirements identification, through sourcing, tendering, negotiating and development of contracts.
Possible career development pathway could include primary degree and / or professional qualifications in a relevant technical subject (for example Engineering, Construction Management or Quantity Surveying / Estimating).
Professional qualifications in Procurement also required (e.g. MCIPS or CCP). A background of working in leading construction companies and / or technology companies engaged in construction of facilities.
Data Centre or cloud service provider experience would be advantageous.
Language skills : fluency in English is essential. Other languages are desirable.
Influential and authoritative with internal stakeholders.
