As Thames Water, due to our size, location and asset base (Inc. land, clean and waste-water network, strategically located sites, renewable energy generation potential etc.

we have a unique opportunity to add further value over and above our regulatory commitments for our customers, communities and shareholders.

The Ventures business unit has been created to consolidate and build capability to commercially create, develop, grow and manage opportunities across the organisation and this role will be a key part of realising this vision.

As the Commercial Strategy Lead you will be working as part of the newly created Ventures Business Unit; the Commercial Strategy Lead will be focussed on :

  • Supporting the development of the overarching Ventures strategy
  • Working with the Ventures directors to assist in the development of their sub-strategies
  • Assessing and incubating new business opportunities
  • Collaborating with members of the Ventures team and the wider Thames Water business to take initiatives through to outline business case
  • Delivering new Ventures transformation projects
  • Leading on external market research
  • What you should bring to the role

  • Good experience in a commercial, consultancy, financial or strategy function within a corporate organisation with demonstrable benefit delivery
  • Demonstrable knowledge of processes required to develop benefit driving initiatives from inception to delivery
  • Experience of delivering initiatives as part as a cross-business and multi-disciplinary team
  • Proven track record of data analytics and commercial analysis
  • Experiencing in successfully engaging new stakeholders and building strong relationships
  • Experience developing presentations for senior managements on strategy
  • Experience in carrying out market research to provide business insight
  • Understanding of economics and regulation
  • Experience of developing strategy for conception to documented and approved output
  • Experience developing strategic projects from conception to benefits realised

    As part of your role, you’ll be required to participate in a rota to provide Customer Incident Support, as requested by the Company from time to time.

    This may be by supporting our customers on the frontline as an Ambassador or being part of the team managing the incident as a Control Tower Lead.

    This is incredibly rewarding, and you’ll be given full training it’s also a great opportunity to learn more about our business and meet colleagues.
