Responsibilities and Performance Objectives Focusing on the engineering side of NLP technology, take ownership of a significant part of developing NLP components, applications, platforms, and services throughout the entire life cycle from lab to production .
Partner with NLP scientists to push the boundaries on the performance, scalability, and production use of the latest NLP and wider AI technologies applied to big problems within insurance and asset management.
Contribute to peer review processes to ensure solid best practices, design principles, and optimised methodologies pertaining to software engineering and AI development.
Review, direct, guide, and inspire more junior engineers in the Investments AI Team (especially applicable to more senior candidates).

Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, processing requirements, and optimisation, with the ability to formalise and prove them mathematically.
An advanced degree in a numerical discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Machine Learning, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Bioinformatics).
Demonstrable experience in engineering for scale and reliability using cloud platforms (e.g. Amazon Web Services) towards robust, flexible, extendible, scalable, low-latency, high-throughput text processing pipelines, components, and architectures to be used in demanding long-term, SLA-ed production settings.
