This is mainly achieved through : Incubation of disruptive innovation (via scientists, engineers, and designers working together) AI, ML, and NLP R&D (incl.

publication in top conferences and journals) Provision- of machine-learning advisory and consulting to AIG's global businesses.

As a critical role in Investments AI’s success, we are looking to hire NLP Engineers to join our team and contribute to the development of disruptive apps and products part of a series of exciting new projects in AIG's global Investments AI team, solving complex business problems.

This is an exciting opportunity for those who want to enjoy develop and serve state-of-the-art R&D through ambitious engineering, and grow in the field of AI-first software and product development.

Responsibilities and Performance Objectives Focusing on the engineering side of NLP technology, take ownership of a significant part of developing NLP components, applications, platforms, and services throughout the entire life cycle from lab to production .

Partner with NLP scientists to push the boundaries on the performance, scalability, and production use of the latest NLP and wider AI technologies applied to big problems within insurance and asset management.

Contribute to peer review processes to ensure solid best practices, design principles, and optimised methodologies pertaining to software engineering and AI development.

Review, direct, guide, and inspire more junior engineers in the Investments AI Team (especially applicable to more senior candidates).

  • Required Attributes Both senior candidates (with years of experience and leadership) and junior candidates are welcome to apply;
  • we have and will offer positions appropriate to expertise and level of experience. The minimum required skills include : Self-motivated and creative - we are building from ground up, not tweaking legacy.

    Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, processing requirements, and optimisation, with the ability to formalise and prove them mathematically.

    An advanced degree in a numerical discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Machine Learning, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Bioinformatics).

    Demonstrable experience in engineering for scale and reliability using cloud platforms (e.g. Amazon Web Services) towards robust, flexible, extendible, scalable, low-latency, high-throughput text processing pipelines, components, and architectures to be used in demanding long-term, SLA-ed production settings.

  • Demonstrable understanding of how NLP technologies relate to and interact with end-to-end product development concerns. Practical experience with NLP algorithms, methods, and tools in multiple core, fundamental NLP and text analytics tasks, application areas, and topics such as text classification, topic classification, topic detection, and topic modelling;
  • information extraction; Named Entity recognition, entity tagging, and entity resolution; Question-Answering (QA), dialog systems, dialog modelling, dialog generation, and chatbots;
  • reading comprehension; inference; sentiment analysis and emotion analysis; event detection; language modelling; text summarization;
  • semantic role labelling and semantic parsing; information retrieval; word sense disambiguation; pronoun, anaphora, and coreference resolution;
  • distributed representations and vector semantics; and compositional methods. Deep familiarity with existing Open Source NLP frameworks, libraries, utilities, tools, and related resources (e.

    g. Stanford CoreNLP, spaCy, fastText, AllenNLP, NLP Architect, PyTorch-NLP, Gensim, pymagnitude, word2vec, BERT, Elmo, and GloVe).

    Demonstrable ability to use and extend existing deep learning and machine learning libraries and frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, Keras, and TensorFlow).

    Strong Python coding skills plus experience in a typed language (e.g. C++, Java, and Scala). Familiarity with build automation, and continuous integration and delivery tools, processes, and best practices.

  • Familiarity with QA (quality assurance) processes and best practices. Excellent team player; ability to translate complex technical and non-technical concepts and evolving requirements across diverse technical and non-technical audiences at multiple levels;
