Microsoft Research Cambridge is looking for a researcher in safe systems and runtimes for preserving confidentiality. The candidate will work as a part of the Confidential Computing group, which has close collaborations with Azure Confidential Computing, Azure Edge and Platform, and Azure Security.

The group aims to provide the next generation of technology for Azure to deploy to make the cloud the most secure and trusted place to perform your computation.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will undertake cutting-edge research on building confidentiality preserving systems, blending both hardware and software design.

They will share their findings by building running systems to demonstrate to product groups and via publications in recognized academic venues.

Required

  • Strong Track record in research, as evidenced by high-quality publications
  • Extensive C / C++ systems programming
  • Extensive operating system and / or runtime experience
  • Creative and collaborative approach to problem-solving
  • Preferred

  • Previous work on a security-oriented project
  • Knowledge of asynchronous runtimes
  • Experience with developing unikernel and container systems
  • Experience with Intel SGX, AMD SEV, or ARM TrustZone
