Corporate Relations (CR) has a critical leadership role in protecting and promoting Diageo’s reputation and its licence to operate.

The Global Brand and Communications Team (part of Corporate Relations) is responsible for all internal and external communications, the design and delivery of Diageo’s reputation strategy and the promotion of our corporate brand, from strategy to execution.

The Global Communications Officer - Financial is a key member of the global external communications team, supporting the execution of the broader integrated corporate communications strategy.

The role has a specific remit as primary support to the Head of Financial Communications on the delivery of the financial calendar and associated reporting activity, as well as selected acquisitions, debt-raising and other financial communications, required as a result of our dual listing in London and New York.

The role has shared responsibility, with two Global Press Officers, for the efficient and effective running the global press office, our media relations, media stakeholder events and global communications channel management.

It also supports elements of our Corporate Comms agenda, as required.

Your accountabilities include :

Financial calendar communications :

  • Working with the Head of Financial Communications, play a key role in the project management and delivery of financial communications activities, including interim and preliminary results, the AGM, the Annual Report (Strategic Review) , as well as other published reporting such as Gender Pay reporting.
  • Delivery of the financial comms aspects of the role will span project management as well as content creation and media relations
  • Media Relations :

  • Joint responsibility, with Global Press Officers, for the day-to day running of the Global press office, delivery of media events and management of the team’s global digital channels.
  • Build, manage and sustain media relations with primary focus on business media, but to include broader trade media relations as well.
  • Global corporate communications : outside the primary financial communications remit , accountabilities include :

  • The creation and delivery of content across other corporate communications areas, including Sustainability, Positive Drinking and our Inclusion & Diversity agenda.
  • This must be done with a view to delivering integration across traditional and digital channels.

    Your qualifications :

  • University Degree
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in public relations / communications or media, with experience of content creation, channel management and media handling.
  • Consideration given to candidates with financial background who may have worked in Investor Relations, broking, corporate finance or strategy.

  • Strong, current understanding of the media and communications environment for listed companies.
  • Experience of financial calendar work with an understanding of listed business obligations and experience of working on integrated campaigns across traditional and digital media.
  • A track record of managing an agenda and projects involving multiple stakeholders and priorities.
  • Experience of managing agencies to deliver successfully.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships within and outside the organisation.
  • Collaborative team player
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, including ability to think a project through to completion, anticipating barriers and pitfalls and formulating solutions to overcome these.
