Direct Investments Group, Europe (Private Equity)
The Direct Investments Group (DIG) is part of the Private Equity division of GIC and makes minority equity investments in private companies.
DIG invests across a wide range of industries including TMT, Healthcare, Financial Services, Business services, Consumer and Industrials.
Investment activity is split relatively equally between deals where GIC is the sole minority investor (i.e. transactions with no partner) and partnership deals, generally involving control buy-out transactions.
Investments typically range in size between €200mm and €1bn.
GIC is looking for a suitable candidate to join the Direct Investments Group in Europe as a Vice President. This close-knit team currently comprises 9 investment professionals, all based in London.
Coverage of the TMT sector, with secondary coverage of another sector to be discussed.
Helping the team in sourcing, evaluating and executing direct private equity minority equity investments.
Establishing, developing and maintaining relationships with potential and existing investee companies, business owners and investment partners across the individual’s focus sectors.
Full involvement in all aspects of the transaction process including creating an investment thesis, executing against a diligence workplan, coordinating with our investment partners (as applicable), and preparing and presenting materials for the investment committee.
Oversight of selected portfolio companies, whether as support to one of the team’s senior leads or in a lead position, including representing GIC at board meetings, interacting with management and assisting the company and our shareholder partners on initiatives.
Managing and developing the Associate and AVP members of the team.
Contributing to non-deal projects, ranging from topics specific to the Direct Investments team in Europe or for the benefit of GIC more broadly.
Minimum of ten years relevant transaction experience at a leading principal investing firm / private equity fund, investment bank / advisory firm, or corporate development / M&A team.
Educated to post-graduate / graduate level.
Strong track record of performance and success at current employer.
Self-starter and ability to operate in a less structured environment.
Very strong commercial judgment and a passion for understanding what drives business quality and value.
The ability to develop and defend an investment point of view.
Proven skills and experience in commercial, financial and valuation analysis.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
European language skills would be a plus.
