Job Purpose

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the School of Education for a Band 500 Team Leader position within our newly refurbished Programme Office.

As one of the University’s largest Schools, the School of Education has a central role in advancing the research and teaching standing of the University.

The School is an international leader in education with a history of top rated research. In the 2017 QS World Rankings, it was ranked 25th in the World and joint 6th in Europe.

Job summary

The postholder will lead a team of administrators with responsibility for a portfolio of programmes offered by the School of Education.

They will be responsible for day to day planning of tasks to deliver excellent customer service to key stakeholders. Reporting to the Programme Manager, the postholder is a critical member of the programme leadership team and will need to develop excellent relationships with students, academic staff and professional services colleagues.

The postholder will work collaboratively with other team leaders within the programme office to develop and implement strategies for programme delivery, student support, service resilience and creating a great student experience.

Person Specification Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience Essential

  • Good educational standard equivalent to A-Level,including evidence of strong literacy and numeracy as evidenced by GCSE passes at grade A C / 9-
  • 4 (or equiv.) in English and Maths

  • Experience of day-to-day management and supervision of staff
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including ability to build relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • Decision making skills, confidentiality, diplomacy, cultural awareness and sensitivity, when liaising with key stakeholders
  • Excellent customer service
  • Ability to prioritise workloads to ensure the work is completed to time
  • The ability to interpret, analyse and present a range of information
  • Good written communication skills, Evidence of ability to share knowledge with other staff (e.g. train them toimprove the operational activity within the team)
  • Competency in using IT systems including Microsoft Office
  • Desirable

  • Recognised leadership / management qualification
  • Experience of working in a Higher Education setting or similar
