About the Role

Our Construction & Engineering practice advises the full range of sector stakeholders, providing bespoke and specialist advice to support projects and disputes.

We are ambitious and want to continue the growth of our offering and presence as leading experts in this market. To this end we are looking to recruit a senior lawyer to work alongside the Sector Lead, Andrew Ash, to grow, develop and manage contentious construction work.

You will work closely with the other lawyers in the team to provide exceptional levels of client service and actively support the sector business development plan.

Duties will include : Acting as a senior lawyer for our construction clients’ most challenging matters. Managing a client review process and introducing changes based on client feedback, focusing on ourclients’ successes and future growth.

Setting up and taking a key role in client and referrer events across the business. Building business on the back of referrals for excellent service delivery.

Running client and referrer development plans, with goals for growing clients / referrers through a range of added value activities, service extension and cross referrals.

Expanding your own practice by broadening and developing your area of expertise into new client sectors or markets to achieve greater market share.

We are particularly interested in growing our presence with Infrastructure clients. Contributing to Dispute resolution Department BD plans and taking responsibility for the promotion of the contentious construction practice area Growing as a leader of the firm through strategic contributions to the department and creating goodworking relationships with others across the firm.

Quickly building a strong network to enable effective leverage. Leading and managing performance and development, both in terms of your own practice and others in the team so as to secure excellent results.

Aligning your personal contribution and activities with the wider business objectives and success of the firm. Understanding changes in the legal sector, identifying the impact on the business and definingstrategies to ensure that team members keep up to date.

Managing business processes effectively analysing management information, and working with others to define and implement business improvements and change.

About You

Skills & Experience : You will be a qualified solicitor with substantial previous experience operating as a senior fee earnerin an established legal practice specialising in construction You will have a clear business plan for the growth of your own practice within the constructionand engineering team at Royds Withy King You will be able to demonstrate strong client management skills with a focus on delivery of excellent client service You will have a track record in winning new business through networking and marketing activities You will be able to demonstrate an ability to manage a team Experience of working on both domestic and international disputes associated with large scale civil engineering projects in the rail, road and renewable energy sectors is highly desirable Leadership Behaviours : You will be expected to lead by example, being a role model for Royds Withy King values, with a vision for current and future business direction You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, to help build strong internal and external relationships You will help manage the performance and contribution of team members, utilising their talent, expertise and experience to bring out the best in them and meet the firm’s and their own individual objectives You will help manage change, supporting and inspiring other team members in the process You will help strengthen the Royds Withy King brand through creative and innovative marketing ideas whilst keeping the interests of the client at the heart of your thinking
