Are you a leader within E-commerce Technical Architecture?

Do you have expertise across E-commerce website development and maintenance?

Here at Animed Direct we are a rapidly growing online veterinary pharmacy and pet shop, specialising in prescription medicines, clinical diets and premium pet products.

As Head of Development you will be responsible for maintaining, developing and improving the whole E-commerce Technical architecture for Animed Direct across all layers including, hardware infrastructure, data persistence, owned software applications and integration APIs with 3rd party systems.

Key Responsibilities and Functions Include :

  • Implementing best-practice standards in code control, software development and quality assurance, systems performance and usability, E-commerce website development and maintenance.
  • Lead decision-making of systems architecture, processes and the optimal technology stack to deliver company's goals and commercial targets
  • Full ownership of IT / Development Budget and deliver on its targets
  • Lead the team of Dev / Ops and Quality Assurance engineers
  • Create systems process flows, systems technical specifications and maintain relevant documentation up-to-date
  • Coordinate business requirements and their delivery with Heads of other departments
  • Ensure processes, systems and infrastructure health and security
  • Ensure transparency, measurement and full accountability of systems operational performance, and SLAs targets
  • Skills and experience required :

  • Computer Science or software engineering qualification
  • Proven track record of experience in Head, Lead or Architect role overlooking web development within organisation or software development agency
  • Be able to demonstrate excellent expertise of a modern technology stack in E-commerce -web client-server technology, databases, integrations and APIs.
  • Be able to demonstrate good expertise in software development approaches : source control, CI / CD, multi-environment operation, test-driven design.
  • First-hand understanding of software project management approaches
  • Excellent analytical skills with great attention to detail

    Location : Flexible working is offered with a combination of remote working / Head office at Diss.
