Department overview :
Fitch Ratings Economics team, in tandem with the Sovereign ratings team, is the conduit for the firm’s most visible, high profile analytical messaging, research and outreach activities that are critical to extending the Fitch Ratings brand and supporting growth in the business.
The economics team produces the quarterly Global Economic Outlook (GEO) covering 20 of the largest economies which forms the firms’ base case global macro view.
The team also produces thematic global macro research and scenario analysis to help inform Fitch Ratings wider credit analysis and reinforce the firms’ voice in the media and financial markets.
Reporting to the Chief Economist, the successful candidate will play an active part in developing and communicating the team’s forecast views and produce thought-
provoking and insightful thematic global-macro research. The candidate will help support and develop the team’s growing provision of analytical macroeconomic input to sovereigns and other credit teams in Fitch Ratings.
The candidate will also be expected to help represent the economics teams’ views at through conference presentations, panels and investor meetings.
The candidate will have a Master’s Degree in Economics and extensive experience as an applied macro-economist in a policy, research or financial market environment.
Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential as well as an ability to initiate and execute original and insightful global macro research.
Hands-on experience of using global macro-econometric models for scenario analysis and some knowledge of modelling techniques would be an advantage.
