Due to a drive for greater success, this advanced manufacturing business is currently searching for a Principal Welding Engineer to add to their talented, hardworking team in Barrow-in-Furness on a 6-month contract.

The Role

Within the role of Principal Welding Engineer, you'll be responsible for :

  • Providing welding engineering guidance and support to structural and piping areas across the submarines business unit.
  • Undertaking Procedure Qualification Record development, testing and formal approval of welding procedure specifications.
  • Assisting with preparation and transmittal of welding documentation to production areas.
  • In addition, you'll also monitor weld quality within structural and piping areas and report findings to line management.

    To succeed within the role of Principal Welding Engineer, you'll have experience in a similar position, and you'll ideally have the following skills :

  • Qualified to BSc / BEng level or equivalent in a relevant engineering subject.
  • European Welding Federation qualification to Engineer level Chartership or equivalent.
  • Familiar with national and international codes and specifications relating to welding.
  • In addition, the ability to assimilate and process data from a range of sources.
