Residential Deputy Manager Opportunities

37.5 hours per week, flexible according to the needs of the individuals and the home, this could involve night shifts and will include weekends.

Salary : Negotiable dependent on experience.

Ty Carreg - West Aberthaw, Vale of Glamorgan.

At Orbis Education and Care we support children, young people and adults with needs associated with autism, we provide specialist schools, community homes, and a community-based work-skills service.

We are currently on the lookout for a Deputy Manager to join our Ty Carreg Team, we are looking for someone who can bring their passion and drive to work every day and who can help our team continue to do an amazing job.

As Deputy Manager your responsibilities will be to support the home manager to achieve compliance, with the regulatory framework, organisational objectives and a culture of continuous improvement.

The post holder will also deputise in the manager's absence and be a creative and innovative leader that supports the home to be a specialist excellent service.

What you will be doing

  • Creating a culture in your home that drives quality and continuous improvement.
  • Promote the positive ethos of Orbis Education and Care sharing the vision.
  • Support the Home Manger to ensure compliance with the regulatory framework.
  • Support the Home Manger to develop a culture that drives quality and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all Company policies, procedures and practices are implemented consistently.
  • Support the home manager to co-ordinate any maintenance work that is required within the home.
  • Participate in the Companies Out of hours service.
  • Ensure all staff in the home are compliant with QCF completion as per the Ty Carreg's statement of purpose.
  • To improve the quality of life of the individuals in the home by embedding the Positive Behaviour Support framework and active support model in the home.
  • To improve the outcomes of all individuals by measuring their success against their targets set from person centred planning meetings and their care and treatment plan.
  • Attend daily handovers to have a supportive presence in the home.
  • Help establish effective lines of communication within the home and encourage employee engagement.
  • To help deliver effective rota management alongside the home manager for all staff and ensure that it's at the required staffing establishment and, staff have a work / home life balance
  • Assist in the induction of new staff into the home
  • Ensure there is a reduction of agency usage in the home and this is continually monitored.
  • To work with the home manager to ensure the home is at 100% occupancy.
  • Continually monitor and actively reduce the staff absence for the home in line with the organisations policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with the recruitment team to ensure the home has a full staffing establishment
  • Promote and Celebrate the homes achievements internally and externally.
  • Required to supervise, coach and mentor team leaders.
  • To act as a mentor to new staff and co-ordinate their induction into the home.
  • To support the supervision of all staff and report on compliance.
  • To attend daily briefings with all departments and co-ordinate necessary support to the home for that day.
  • To attend and chair employee relation meetings and support the Home Manager in conducting disciplinary hearings.
  • To support the MDT with the implementation of care and support plans and any targets that have been set for the individual's living in the home.
  • What we are looking for .

  • Experience of direct support experience with people with learning disabilities and / or ASC and Challenging Behaviour (At least two years).
  • Experience leading a staff team.
  • Experience of working as part of a Multi-Disciplinary team.
  • Experience of supporting and leading individual's engagement.
  • Be able to demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to provide a warm, welcoming and structured learning environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, staff, parents and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage, support and motivate staff in a team situation.
  • Ability of be innovative, imaginative and flexible with the working situation.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to meet targets.
  • Ability to develop own targets specific to the role.
  • Ability to supervise coach and mentor staff.

  • Knowledge and Qualifications

  • To hold or be working towards the QCF level 5.
  • To hold or be working towards the PBS BTEC level 4.
  • An understanding of the importance of managing change.
  • Knowledge of GDPR and responsible for ensuring the confidentiality of the individuals and staff.
  • Knowledge of RISCA and ensure inspection documentation and records comply with operational standards and statutory regulations and guidance.
  • Have a good understanding of the Positive behaviour support framework and the active support model as this underpins the way in which Orbis Educations & Care supports all the individual's living in the home.
