The role in a nutshell
This role is to lead the growing Data Science & Analytics team, as UNiDAYS continues its investment and transformation of its data capabilities.
The current team is well established and integral to UNiDAYS so this is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, performance-driven leader to take the team onto the next phase, as we look to invest more in advanced analytics and data products to suit our evolving strategy.
Leading the Data Science, Insight Analytics and Digital Analytics teams, this role will shape how we drive value from our data across the organisation.
Day to day responsibilities
Own the Data Science and Analytics Strategy for the team, ensuring alignment with the wider Data & Insight / UNiDAYS ’ strategy
Establish team structure, processes and a vision that ensures your team is set up to deliver value across the organisation
Own the development, buy-in and communication of the Data Science & Analytics Roadmap
Work with stakeholders at all levels to understand business questions and identify how insight / and or data science products can answer these questions
In collaboration with business teams, turn insights into measurable, valuable, data-driven solutions
Work with leaders across the business to put data and insight at the centre of our value proposition to our member, partners and our core business operations
Work with your Lead Data Scientist, the Data, Product & Engineering teams to determine and develop the appropriate Data Science and Analytics tech stack
Drive a culture of product analytics; determining how to make our member journey measurable and using this data to drive insights into improving this experience for members
Take a lead role in developing our analytical solutions and data products we can provide our partners
Help drive a culture of test and learn at UNiDAYS; develop frameworks that encourage multivariate testing across our platforms, teams and processes
Work alongside the Data team to define data requirements and ensure our data is fit for purpose to drive the business insight needs
Manage projects with complex requirements across multiple stakeholder groups to a successful conclusion
Taking steering from other business leaders, effectively prioritise projects to ensure the team are spending their time on the most valuable work
Line manage the Data Science, Insight Analytics and Digital Analytics team; taking responsibility for the career development of individuals within your team
Own the process of research, business case development, selection and deployment of market leading analysis and data processing tools
Lead the team through the use of data science technicals, statistical modelling and analytics tools such as R, Python, GA etc to deliver measurable outcomes
Lead the team through use of AWS Sagemaker as Data Science Platform
Lead your team through the use of data visualisation tools and storytelling with data
Work with leads within the Data & Insight team to improve internal ways of working
Develop, alongside your team, and champion best practice in data science & analytics techniques
Uphold GDPR and internal UNiDAYS data governance and policies
Continually stay ahead of industry developments in data science, data architecture and technology
Champion the work of UNiDAYS externally
Champion the Data Strategy, through the business and within the Data & Insight Team
What we need from you
You will have extensive experience in senior analytics or consultancy roles , including experience leading teams in these areas, preferably with digital, retail, financial, commercial or marketing background.
Developing data science & analytics strategies to set direction for the team
Working with stakeholders at all levels to understand business questions, gather and scope requirements and provide recommendations to meet the needs of the business and the wider data strategy
Managing projects with complex requirements with multiple stakeholders to a successful conclusion
Influencing strategic decisions through insight and / or deployment of data products
Research, selection and deployment of market leading analytics, data science and digital analytics tools
Using data to help sculpt value propositions for customers and / or equivalent consumers
Line management and leading a team of data scientists, insight analysts & digital analytics; including career development of technical analysts
Leading testing and optimisation workstreams across the business
Building out growing teams; determining the structure, hiring plans and recruitment process
Creating and directing measuring frameworks and tagging strategies
Developing best practice and processes for managing data science and analytics projects
Project management experience in developing data science and analytics roadmaps
Hands-on experience in managing the technical development of members of the team
Hands-on experience in using and managing teams using AWS or Google data solutions;
Hands-on experience in using and managing teams using statistical / machine learning techniques
Experience with reporting tools Tableau, Power BI
Experience with statistical modelling and analytics tools such as R and Python
Experience with using third party analytical tools / solutions ie. Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Segment, Optimizely
Experience in developing frameworks and methods to ensure your team adheres to GDPR and internal data governance and policies
