Head of Energy Storage Systems Principal Consultant Would you like to lead a successful and rapidly expanding Energy Storage team?

We are currently looking for a Head of Energy Storage to lead our global service line in this exciting sector and build on our strong track record to date.

You will find yourself leading several energy storage projects including interacting and overlapping with other Heads of Service in our Power business unit.

At RINA we work flexibly across borders so you can expect to work on projects in multiple geographies. The Role : Head of Energy Storage Systems (ESS) will be responsible for leading the ESS team, delivery of work within the team, and driving new business to grow the team and its revenue.

The role will be responsible for the ESS cost centre including profit and loss of all ESS activity with the Power division.

  • Responsibilities : Represent RINA as a leading consultancy in ESS to the industry as Head of ESS; Work alongside colleagues, driving and securing new Power work, leading on high-quality bids and expanding the current client base with your extensive network;
  • Leading and managing various projects including due diligence, Owner’s Engineer, and analytical roles, as well as acting as Project Director to project teams;
  • Manage an effective team to facilitate achievement of its full potential; Qualifications & Experience : Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or other relevant disciplines;
  • 10+ years of relevant experience; Consulting engineering experience. Knowledge : Firm understanding of typical contract structures and best practice;
  • Procurement and evaluation methods; Battery technologies, chemistries, attributes, readiness levels and use-cases; Energy storage testing and performance verification and SCADA best practice;
  • Knowledge of each of onshore wind, offshore wind, solar PV; HV equipment and substation design principles; Understanding of international grids, codes, practices and connection processes.

  • Skills : Proven ability to lead a flexible team through strong interpersonal skills; Project management expertise and capability to lead a project team;
  • Excellent reporting writing and presentation skills with strong attention to detail; Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail;
  • The person You will be a highly professional and aspirational Energy Storage Engineer with a drive to deliver technical excellence to match the RINA renewables team ethos.

    You will be an effective technical thinker with strong analytical problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach. You will be keen to develop your skills taking this opportunity to progress in a growing specialist team.

    As an exceptional communicator, you will have well-developed report writing and presentation skills with acute attention to detail.

    You will thrive on customer engagement and be skilled in understanding their needs and building lasting relationships. You will work well in all scenarios and as a self-manager’ take satisfaction from using your initiative and taking accountability.
