Software Developer Solar Data Acquisition

We are searching for an experienced Software Developer Solar Data Acquisition to work in Northern Europe, however this is flexible, and we would consider other locations for the right candidate.

Job Purpose

The SMART (Site Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Tool) team is an important part of this, providing bespoke software solutions across the global wind, solar and energy storage Support Services business.

This software developer role reports to the Senior Product Manager for Data Acquisition within the SMART team. This team includes software developers, product managers and software support specialists, who all work to architect, implement, and support new software products for RES Support Services business.

You will have experience of acquiring data from solar generation assets

Retrieving and homogenizing data from a wide range of operational renewable energy power plants.

Making data available to internal and external customers via robust and easy to use APIs.

Job Responsibilities

Work together with the Product Managers and subject matter experts to deliver new software products.

Choose the right technology, architecture, and infrastructure for each product in consultation with other software developers and the Product Manager.

Maintain high operational performance and application availability.

Assist the Product Manager with user story definition, estimation, and planning.

Demonstrate new features to users at demos.

Follow and contribute to team working agreement.

Contribute to the strategic technical direction of the product.

Support continuous improvement of team tools and practices.

Assist the support team with quick resolution of issues.

Knowledge

Software development and testing, ideally in C# or Python.

Docker

Azure native application development in particular Azure IoT.

Deploy cloud infrastructure using Terraform

Version control systems such as Github.

Skills

Integrate with an existing international team

Understand users' success criteria and design software to achieve their required outcomes

Experience

Acquiring data from solar assets

Agile methodology

Continuous integration and deployment

Test-driven development

Writing self-documenting and maintainable code.

Code peer review (PR or pair programming)

Previous experience of working with web APIs would be beneficial.

Qualifications

Degree in Computer Science, Science, Engineering, or relevant experience working as a software developer.
