About the Role
The Language Centre, a department within the School of Languages, Linguistics and Film, is looking to appoint a suitably qualified Lecturer and Programme Convenor to head its Level 3 Foundation Programmes.
The post-holder will contribute to the delivery of high-quality teaching, scholarly activity and administration on the Language Centre’s foundation programmes, managing delivery of the modules and contributing strategically towards their promotion, development and enhancement.
The post-holder will also be responsible for the foundation programme design, implementation, and quality, which includes the assessment processes, supervision and development of teaching staff, and liaison with internal and external academic and non-academic stakeholders.
In addition, the post-holder will make a leading contribution to the long-term development of the foundation programmes to ensure that they are appropriately positioned to enhance students’ success, and will make innovations in key aspects of teaching and learning, including the design of materials, new modules and / or options.
This post contains no research element, although the post-holder is expected to keep up-to-date with developments in the field of language teaching pedagogy and make important pedagogical contributions to the field.
A PhD or equivalent, a recognized professional qualification in the English language teaching field, the ability to deliver teaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, the ability to work constructively and flexibly with colleagues, and good organisational and communicative skills are essential.

The post is full time, permanent appointment with an expected start date of 1st November 2020. The starting salary will be Grade 6, in the range of £47,325 - £48,642 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
