Contract : Permanent

Hours : 37.5 hrs per week

Role Purpose

The Technical Security Specialist provides support across the Architecture, Development and Engineering teams with regards to security requirements, both best practice and that required by regulation.

Ensuring Gamma is building network and product capabilities with underpinning security controls and minimum risk.

Key Accountabilities

Provide technical security expertise to development and engineering projects and programmes within Gamma. Acting as a guide and liaison to other technical and operational teams across the business.

Ensure the most up to date technical security practices are being incorporated in our development and engineering workstreams.

Develop Gamma's security capabilities, ensuring the business matures over time.

Ensure development and engineering work is aligned with and supports effective and efficient operational security controls within Gamma.

Manage remediation development activity to address deficiencies observed from penetration tests and other similar disclosure activities.

Key Relationships

Manage the technical security relationships with the Architecture, Development, Engineering and Operational teams.

Support the Chief Architect with relevant industry body engagement.

Ensure active participation with the wider security industry, nurturing relationships to share learning and best practice with each other.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Demonstrable knowledge of communications networks and information systems.
  • Be adept in dealing with complex issues in a technology and organisational setting.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of technical security controls, including their drawbacks.
  • Understanding of the telecommunications industry and threats faced.
  • Understanding of risk-based decision making.
  • Ability to define security controls within a complex technical network.
  • Ability to explain complex technical items to non-technical stakeholders to gain support.
  • Ability to make choices and drive action when faced with ambiguity.
  • Education / Qualifications

    Relevant University Degree Qualification

    CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst+ (CySA+)

    GIAC Certification

    Further relevant information :

    Role is to be based Remotely

    Travel between sites (Manchester, Newbury, London, or Glasgow) will be a requirement for this role.

    There may be a requirement to attend meetings and other activities outside of normal working hours.
