opportunity for youto join our awesome team. We support our brilliant customers, who can bechallenging and volatile at times, but are hugely rewarding to work with! Ourcustomers are young people at risk of homelessness, who are aged between 16 and25, and almost 80% of them have a mental health diagnosis.
We help them in theareas of emotional and practical support, advice and advocacy.
Our customers live in a large buildingin the city centre of Newcastle. They live in one of 52 single person en-suitebedrooms (that are fully furnished), and share communal living facilities andkitchens.
We also have a common room, where we provide a calendar of regularactivities and a courtyard, which our customers can use when they want.
We alsohave 20 fully furnished, self-contained flats, each with a bedroom, a livingroom and a kitchen, where some of our customers live.
We help ourcustomers to change their lives, and support them to worktowards achieving their aspirations. We deliver the support that has beenidentified, in the individual plans that have been created in partnership withour Support Coordinators and customers.
What we can tell you is that each dayis totally different, so if you’re looking for a calm stable role, then this isnot the job for you!

One day you might be cooking with acustomer and supporting them to shop on a budget or prepare healthy meals, thenext you might be supporting them at a probation or substance abuse supportmeeting.
You’ll work in partnership with ourexternal partners and with your Home Group colleagues assess and engage supportfor your customers.

About our team
You’ll be working with our fabulousteam, who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goalsand celebrating their achievements.
To us we’re not just a team we’re a bigwork family . There are about 30 of us all together in the team,some have been at Home Group a long time and others are new to the role, likeyou will be! The great news is that you will be supported by a great team ofmanagers (Stacey, Emma, Kerry and Alex), who don’t just love to support ourcustomers, but make sure that we are there for each other too! In each ofour offices we have a team Happy Jar , we’ll explain to you how that workswhen you join us!
You’ll work on a rota basis between thehours of 8am and 8pm, these are full 12 hour shifts and include workingweekends. What that means is that while your working day is a long one,you do get at least 3 days off per week and 2 weekends off per month! We needyou to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but in return we aim togive you the time you need to spend it on doing the things that matter toyou, be it your child’s school play, your partner’s graduation, or to getyour new fridge delivered!
You’re passionate and motivated to helpvulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. You’llimpress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positivelyinfluencing people from all different backgrounds.
You will haveexperience in safeguarding, riskassessments, confidentiality, support plans, alongside working collaboratively.
We help change our customer’s lives forthe better. You’ll play your part by assisting in the delivery of tasks thatare based on our customers personal support plans, and their needs andaspirations.
You’ll work with our Senior Support Workers and external agenciesto assess and engage support for our customers. We empower our customers todevelop the independent living skills they need, to successfully move on.
