Due to rapid growth, THG is looking to recruit an experienced Controls & Instrumentation Engineer for Automation to join the growing team at its flagship site in Warrington, UK.

You will be the SME for the automated systems within our Fulfilment and Manufacturing Centres, troubleshooting, leading process improvements and be a key player in the installation and commissioning of new equipment across all sites.

Your primary focus will be to maximise asset availability but you will also be involved in both CI and capital projects.

You will be a key part of a highly skilled team and thrive in delivering high-quality results and always be on the lookout for improvements.

Main Responsibilities

  • SME for automation, working closely with the Engineering Service and Project teams to advise on both existing and new technology.
  • Troubleshooting PLC code and complex fieldbus IO and SCADA systems.
  • Contribute to the site criticality programme by developing an understanding of the associated risks and
  • Assess and evolve safety systems by utilising your working knowledge of Machine Safety Regulations and Safe Working Practices.
  • Act as the conduit between WMS and WCS for technical matters associated to the Operations.
  • Analyse metrics and data to identify system and machine optimisation opportunities.
  • Implement a technical change management process, liaising with internal and external teams to control updates and change requests.
  • Requirements

    To be considered for this opportunity you should have the following skills / experience

  • Ability to understand Process flows.
  • Fundamental understanding of IT systems like IP Networking, Server Architecture, SQL Databases.
  • Industrial communication protocols like ProfiBus, ProfiNet,
  • Experience either building, commissioning or problem-solving Electrical Controls and Instrumentation Panels.
  • Ability to understand integrated MHE conveyor systems within the FC and the systems that interact outside of the FC.
  • Understanding of Industrial communication protocols like ProfiBus, ProfiNet, Ethernet IP, and demonstrable ability to problem solve those systems.
  • Experience of Barcode recognition technology.
