Biffa require a Shift Production Manager who will have full responsibility for all aspects of the process whilst on shift, the Shift Production Manager leads the team in achieving excellence in health and safety, product quality, asset performance and utilisation and communicate any problems or obstacles to senior management.

As well providing motivation, support and guidance to all employees ensuring their team is fully engaged they should ensure development opportunities are maximised.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Responsible for the Health & Safety of all employees working on your shift and ensure housekeeping and general cleanliness of the plant and equipment is maintained to a high standard
  • Ensure the workforce understand and are compliant with company safety policies and procedures. Provide a safe working environment by conducting risk assessments, manual handling assessments and COSHH evaluations.
  • Encourage and participate in near miss and hazard reporting, and deliver Tool Box Talks and other required health and safety training to assist Biffa Polymers achieve excellence in health and safety as well as meeting business KPI’s

  • Manage the processing activities in the plant, ensuring optimum performance of all available resources including people and machinery
  • Establish operational KPI’s for your team and ensure that these are delivered through performance management and employee development, together with improvement to plant, processes and efficiencies to deliver product of the right quality
  • In conjunction with fellow Production Managers design and implement Standard Operating Procedures to ensure all processes achieve uniformed optimum performance measures including Overall Equipment Efficiency and availability to meet business KPI’s and customer requirements
  • Carry out any other such reasonable job related tasks as the company may require you to undertake from time to time.
  • NATURE AND SCOPE

    The Shift Production Manager has two main accountabilities within the 24 hours, 7 days a week facility :

    1. To manage the manufacturing process ensuring all targets are achieved, reporting on various operational targets.

    2. Optimise working practices ensuring safety standards are maintained at all times. Identify personnel performance shortfalls and implement in-house training.

    Elevate all external training requirements to the Plant Manager.

    This position requires a good level of management skills to liaise with supervisors and other managers on a daily basis, to meet a multitude of targets QSHE, production, process developments.

    Skills and Knowledge to manage the following :

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety in an industrial / processing environment
  • Supervisory or management experience is essential
  • Maintaining employee safety and morale by creating safe working environment.
  • Maintaining optimum employment levels through selecting, interviewing, and training of personnel.
  • A decisive thinker and skilled influencer you will set the standard for strong communication between shifts
  • Key Competencies Required :
  • Competently manage your shift and its interactions with other shifts and departments
  • Demonstrate the ability of team leadership and managing others
  • A self-motivator with a flexible attitude you will lead your team by example
  • Ensure the plant is operating to its maximum efficiency and capability to meet business KPI’s.
  • Ensure all duties are safely carried out in compliance with the relevant legislation, regulations and guidance notes.
