Our Children’s Home situated in Penarth, Wales are seeking a permanent Full-Time Senior Support Worker. Our children's home in Penarth is a 4 bedded service for young people, currently we support 4 young people between the ages of 13 and 15.

The young people placed all attend full time education which is supported via the home. The young people have Social, Emotional and Behavioural difficulties.

Through a creative and caring approach, you will build good relationships with our young people, supporting them to achieve their potential and explore new opportunities and interests.

Participation in activities are key tasks for the role, so energy and initiative is vital.

Our Senior Support Worker roles in Penarth offer a salary of up to £21,994.57 per annum plus £35 nightly sleep in allowance.

There is an opportunity for overtime if desired.

Duties

As a Senior Support Worker, you’ll be doing the following :

  • Supporting the management to run a successful staff team and all day to day operations of the home
  • To assist the management team with the supervisions of junior staff
  • Inducting new staff into the homes procedure and culture
  • Ensuring the highest standards of care in relation to the young people’s physical, behavioural and emotional needs.
  • Be the young person’s champion and as part of the wider team strive to ensure that they achieve their aspirations and full potential
  • Assist senior staff with the writing and maintaining of placement and risk management plans
  • Support young people in daily activities including family contact, attending local clubs, 1 : 1 activities in the community, promoting independence and social behaviour.
  • You will be assigned a key child and play a pivotal role in their day to day life including attending reviews and liaising with external agencies
  • Support and encourage educational engagement
  • Level 3 in Children and Young People qualification is essential for this role. Successful applicants will have previous experience of working with young people with challenging behaviour.

    Due to the location of the Home near Penarth, Wales and the duties involved within the role, you would need to be a driver with a full manual driving license held for over 3 years.

    Hours

    A family is 24 / 7 and so are we. We use a rota system to ensure the young people in our home get the care they need. As a Support Worker in our home you should be happy to work a shift rota system that includes working some weekends and bank holidays.

    We have long shifts at this home of 13 hours, 24 hours and 48 hours (with sleep ins attached), which means you will work a few long days in a week and have the rest of the time to yourself.
