This General Manager position, a high profile role within the Product team, will lead the development of all product initiatives in all mid-

haul destinations to maximise sustainable growth of volume and profit in the TUI UK & Ireland business.

You will be the driving force behind evaluating the competitor landscape, understanding all key commercial and customer indicators (internal and external) to lead and motivate the mid-

haul team to deliver a profitable product plan.

Given this role is critical in setting the wider strategic direction of the business, the role offers an exciting opportunity to develop relationships across multiple business areas and offers development opportunities to present plans to all levels of senior management including the UK Board and above.

What you will be doing

As General Manager in Product you will have direct accountability for the planning of all mid-haul destinations. As such you will keep abreast of trends, both internal and external, and adjust geographical and concept plans accordingly.

You will work with the Director of Product to formulate and develop seasonal and 5 year strategies for each destination and ensure market share, quality and profit objectives are put in place to deliver this.

You will develop a thorough knowledge of each destination and resort characteristics with a full understanding of all product available.

You will also have a clear view on competitor’s product and strategy and how this may influence TUI UK decisions.

You will lead the Mid-haul team to understand and sign off all key commercial aspects of the product portfolio : cost base, hotel business cases, pricing and margin maximisation.

You will also develop an understanding of the customer and ensure that they are also considered in commercial decision making.

You will understand the impact of decisions on key customer indicators such as NPS and other core CSQ data and ensure that the strategy in Mid-

Haul positively impacts this. Where required, you will do further analysis on our customers and non-customers to justify growth opportunities.

You will also work with multiple departments where necessary to ensure that the product strategies you put in place are delivered whilst on sale.

In particular you will have key contacts across Purchasing, Finance, Trading, Marketing, Destination Services as well as the Group Concept team.

You will confidently influence a wide range of stakeholders which may include members of the UK Board on hotel business cases and wider strategic issues to ensure that a profitable product plan is delivered.

Across the TUI Group you will undertake a key role in facilitating geographical synergies for mid haul destinations becoming a key driver of change working with other source market product teams identifying, where it makes commercial sense, opportunities to work together to deliver a better outcome for the Group.

In parallel you will be working with the other Product General Managers and Director of Product on over-arching product initiatives.

You will have accountability and ownership of various aspects of the Product Plan and wider business strategies within the Commercial business unit and beyond (past examples include participating in the Overseas Health & Safety Board, leading the department people plan and ensuring the delivery of targets in Group owned hotels).

These initiatives could also include leading Product strategies that overlap other TUI Group source markets to drive a profitable growth agenda in certain destinations.

Finally, you will have the overall responsibility in ensuring that the initial cost base and pricing process conducted with the product department is carried out effectively and accurately.

You will review overall policies and implement changes that will result in greater margins and / or volumes when programme is seasonally launched.

You will lead, motivate and develop a highly effective team and support the creation of a high performance environment across the wider Product department, which encourages team members to excel through relevant coaching and support networks.

What we are looking for

  • A confident leader with extensive experience in commercial tour operations
  • Strong analytical ability
  • Ability to think commercially and strategically whilst balancing operational requirements, looking beyond product to assess the benefits and impacts on other areas of the business and wider TUI Group.
  • Customer focused mindset. Understands customer needs, both internal and external
  • Strong relationship building skills, with demonstrable experience of influencing multiple stakeholders.
  • Self motivated leader who takes initiative and works collaboratively with proven experience of motivating and developing teams
  • Proven decision making, comfortably handles risk, uncertainty, deals with ambiguity and quickly adapts to changes in priority.
  • Excellent communicator, both verbal and written. With proven ability to influence, challenge, engage, negotiate and inspire team members, peers and stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to identify blockages to achieve results and put in place actions to overcome them
  • Overseas travel is required for the role to fully understand the product line up and also attend appropriate meetings.
