The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a servant leader and mentor for J&J Digital Surgery Enablement Platform Agile Release Trains (ART) and Scrum teams.
You will closely partner as part of the ART Leadership with the scrum masters, product managers, product owners, architects, and groups to ensure working software delivery success and facilitate Agile Release Train events and processes.
You will connect with people with diverse skillsets, insights, call out impediments, manage risks, and drive steadfast improvement.
You will influence Digital Surgery lean Agile culture of decentralized decision-making, self-organizing teams, and objective orientation.
Lead and optimize the flow of value through Scrum teams and Agile Release Trains (ARTs)
Establish and communicate the annual calendars for Program and Team Agile ceremonies
Facilitate Team and Program Planning readiness by encouraging a Continuous Exploration process that drives the synthesis of a Vision, a Roadmap, and Backlogs.
Facilitate the PI planning event
Summarize Team PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives (the RTE) and publish them for visibility and transparency
Coach teams and ARTs on practical Agile & Scaled Agile Framework methodologies and tools like JIRA and JIRA Align in planning, execution, and retrospectives.
Mentor teams & ARTs to craft healthy Feature and user story backlog with sizing and economic value assessments.
Facilitate periodic synchronization meetings : Agile Team level ceremonies, ART sync at the Program Level, and Demos.
Mentor leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFE), Lean-Agile practices and attitudes
Help lead risks and dependencies management; Call out and solve impediments by influencing teams to highlight and find solutions themselves.
Improve the flow of value through solution value streams by assessing the DevOps and Release on Demand proficiency and driving advancement of engineering processes.
Work as part of the Program Management Team leading program execution and operational excellence initiatives.
Drive continuous improvement via Inspect and Adapt workshops; assess the agility level of the ART and Solution Train and encourage and empower teams to self-discovery and solve their problems.
A Bachelor's degree is required. An advanced degree in engineering, technology, or business administration is preferred.
A minimum of six (6) years of related work experience is required.
Experience leading Scrum of Scrum Agile Ceremonies or Release Train Engineer is required.
Experience working in a regulated industry, Life Sciences, Medical Devices, or Consumer Health Industries is required.
Agile organization leadership experience using Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or other scaling models is required.
Experience in Regulated Industry GXP & CSV Validation, Testing & Release Management is required.
Technical solid / business aptitude and experience leading teams in delivering quality software are required.
Ability to influence and communicate effectively with diverse audiences across business and technology to drive right action and correct solutions with solid empathy and "emotional intelligence."
Able to handle conflict with problem-solving using relentless curiosity and openness
Enjoys solving problems, bringing structure, and inspiring continuous team learning and accountability in a creative, fast-paced, high ambiguity work environment and "start-up" culture.

This position requires working in-person or virtually covering Eastern Standard Time core work hours with team members in various locations and time zones.
The position may require up to 25% travel.
Preferred Locations : Work in-person or virtually with team members in various areas, including Raritan, New Jersey, Cincinnati, Ohio, Redwood, CA, Pinewood, United Kingdom.
Secondary Location : US (Remote)
Must work during Eastern Standard Time Core Work hours regardless of physical work location.
