You will be responsible for up to three residential accommodations and the students and staff within them. You will be responsible for ensuring that we are providing high quality care and support to the young people and that we are compliant with CQC regulations.
You will line manage the support team within the accommodations and carry out regular supervisions and appraisals. You will be responsible for overseeing the care and support of the students within the accommodations including quality checking support plans, risk assessments etc.
As part of your role you will carry out and organise medication administration. You will also need to support young people with personal care needs.
You will work with the wider multi-disciplinary team to ensure that we are supporting students to achieve their best. You will act as a duty manager across days, evenings and weekends on a rota basis and be the first point of call for staff and students.
You will also be responsible for organising staff cover. As we are a 24 / 7 education provider you will ensure that the extended curriculum is being implemented effectively on your accommodations and work with staff to achieve this, you will work with your team to set appropriate targets for the young people and to support the team to work towards these.
Candidate Profile You will be enthusiastic, committed and flexible. You will need to be able to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively to ensure that deadlines are met.
You should be able to work a four week rota pattern covering a combination of days, evenings and weekends. You will also be required to carry out sleep-
ins on a rota basis. The role will require lone working at times, and in the evenings and on weekends you would be the senior member of staff on duty supported by on call.
A good knowledge of CQC regulations and safeguarding procedures is desirable but full training will be provided. NVQ / QCF Level 3 is desirable or a willingness to complete this.
An awareness of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty safeguards would be beneficial. You will be a member of the support team employed to respond effectively and sensitively to the broad ranging and often complex social, emotional, educational and recreational needs of young adults with learning difficulties and / or disabilities, within residential & educational environments.
Part of your role will be to enhance and facilitate the achievement of high quality support & education. You will be given training on how to manage behaviours that challenge.
