We are Resi, a London based team that is changing how residential architecture works in the UK. We bring technology to an industry dominated by email, phone calls and spreadsheets.
Formed by the former founders of Hassle.com, Resi has grown rapidly since its launch in 2017 and we are now a team of over 110 people based in Brixton.
We were recently named Barclay's Startup of the Year for 2020 are now looking to expand the team, adding the right people who can help us take the next step forward.
Most companies say they are an equal opportunities employer but we really mean it. We are led by a female CEO and a female CTO.
We actively encourage people who feel like they don’t fit the traditional developer stereotype to apply. Your experience is all that matters.
How does the process work?
Firstly, there will be zero whiteboard technical interviews. We think they are wholly ineffective. Your ability to search StackOverflow when you are stuck, is a much more important attribute.
We genuinely want to get to know you as a person. Can we work together? Will we enjoy solving problems together, as and when we encounter them?
What have you done in the past that is relevant to what Resi will face in the future?
Why should you apply?
If you are looking to join a small friendly team that enjoys doing good work, you will fit right in. If you enjoy using your technical skills to solve real-world problems, you will find plenty of opportunities to do so at Resi.
What will you receive?
We promise that we will offer a competitive salary based on your level of experience. We never want someone to feel undervalued because of remuneration.
In addition to your salary we also offer :
30 days of paid holiday (inc bank holidays)
Your choice of hardware
4 months maternity / paternity leave
Annual staff trip
A flexible work environment
You will be working directly alongside the CTO as well as 6 other engineers and designers.
We don’t believe in a long list of attributes a candidate must tick before applying, although it is helpful for you to know what we are looking for in general.
So, below is our current tech stack. Your level of familiarity and experience with the various components (in particular the Ruby on Rails framework) will be what we are most interested in.
Ruby on Rails 5 (upgrading to Rails 6)
Having a formal education is never a bad thing but we are primarily interested in your real-world hands-on experience whether that is at a job, contributing to open source or a side project you are proud of.
For this role, we are looking for someone who has at least 4 years of commercial experience, ideally with a Ruby-based web framework.
In this role, you would be responsible for writing code to implement new features across the business. Reviewing the code of other engineers as part of our pull request review process.
Sharing your knowledge and experience with other team members via mentoring and pair programming.
Beyond that, we are looking for someone who can communicate effectively both with their fellow engineers and the wider company.
You should be able to balance the need for well written and tested code with knowing when to ship and improve later. Finally, we’re interested in what you can bring to the company beyond just your technical skills - what do you do outside of work?
What are you passionate about?
