The International Markets Unit within the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) is responsible for increasing the Group’s capabilities to expand our footprint in international markets and particularly in emerging and frontier markets.

We are at the heart of a number of key strategic projects for the Group. From developing a stock connect with the Shanghai Stock Exchange, strengthening our links with the Indian and Saudi market and leading the City of London’s efforts to deepen capital markets in Africa.

We seek to innovate, develop new partnerships and products and ensure that London becomes the international partner of choice for key overseas markets.

The team reports to the Chief Executive of London Stock Exchange plc and the Director of International Development, London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), working across LSEG Group functions : Capital Markets, Information Services and Post-

Trade according to specific geographies and projects.

Based in London and reporting to the Head of South Asia, Middle East and Africa, we are recruiting a manager to support the team’s business development and strategy initiatives.

A key first deliverable will be assisting the head of the team to formulate a Group wide strategy on India and Africa and taking the lead developing LSEG’s strategy for the Middle East.

Key responsibilities would include :

  • Develop and implement LSEG’s South Asia, Middle East and Africa strategy, working across the whole group to identify synergies and efficiency improvements
  • Lead LSEG’s implementation of the LSEG Africa Advisory Group capital market recommendations, evolving and expanding LSEG’s role in African capital markets development by : Working closely with key stakeholders across the continent including government and capital market practitionersIdentifying unique African primary and secondary market challenges to solve through new and existing LSEG competencesMobilising internal and external networks focused on capital market development to build broader solutions for additional LSEG revenue opportunities
  • Create and deploy a LSEG Group strategy for the Middle East
  • Lead the team’s corporate development strategy focusing on identifying and evaluating potential M&A opportunities for LSEG in new areas
  • Line management responsibility for Associate in the team
  • Candidate Profile / Key Skills :

  • Proven success in delivering complex policy and / or commercial projects timely and efficiently
  • Solid understanding of capital markets. Demonstrable experience in marketing / sales or business development or large business strategy
  • Degree level education or equivalent essential. Post graduate in finance-based discipline an advantage
  • Has experience of working with India and Africa financial sector and ideally with regulatory and governmental authorities.
