Technical Manager (Engineering Workshops) Student And Academic Services Student & Academic Support Grade 7 - £34,804 to £39,152 dependent on experience (fixed term for 18 months)
Technical Operations, Resources and Services at Sheffield Hallam University provide high quality technical support to teaching and practical activities within the University.
Within this group, the Engineering Workshops technical team is committed to providing a highly skilled service to support academics, students and researchers in engineering disciplines such as aeronautics, materials testing, additive manufacturing, metrology, mechanics, and precision manufacturing.
The Technical Manager role is a key component in the delivery of these services. You will be required to advise and manage, ensuring that effective and high quality technical support arrangements and services are in place to ensure the delivery of an excellent staff and student experience
With experience in a range of engineering disciplines, equipment and processes, you will support and assist in the delivery of services within the labs and workshops.
You will work closely with the Technical Operations Manager, and other key stakeholders, and will contribute to resource planning, staff recruitment and supporting other key business areas as prioritised by the colleges and technical recourses.
You will have experience of leading and managing a team including developing and coaching team members as well as building strong working relationships with stakeholders.
Experience of the effective planning and prioritising of workloads and allocation of resources to meet deadlines is essential, as is using your resilience and enthusiasm to engage the team to deliver an excellent service.
