Plant Oxford is the birthplace and heart of MINI production. Manufactured to individual customer specifications, hundreds of MINIs leave the plant’s assembly lines each day, off to meet new owners in more than 110 countries around the world.

Since production of the new MINI started in 2001, almost 3 million cars have been made at Plant Oxford.

Three UK plants have had a part to play in MINI production Plant Hams Hall makes engines, Plant Swindon produces body pressings and sub-

assemblies for MINI, and all this comes together at Plant Oxford with body shell production, paint and final assembly.

To ensure that we are continually developing our workforce, we are looking for talented and motivated people who will inspire and shape our future business.

Each year we offer a number of internship opportunities and are keen to hear from you if you are currently studying an undergraduate degree and are on track for a 2 : 1 or 1st class final result.

Finish & Test Intern

The BMW Group is currently recruiting an intern to undertake a role within Assembly to support our Finish Team at the MINI Plant in Oxford.

The internships is for 12 months, starting July 2019. The Oxford Plant is the birthplace of MINI production and one of the most modern and technically advanced car plants in the world.

Key Accountabilities

  • Raise and evaluate Problem Resolution Reports
  • Continuous Improvement Activities
  • Assist in aligning Quality Processes within the BMW Group Manufacturing Network
  • Undertake specific project activities as instructed by General Managers & Group Leaders (e.g. Industry 4.0 / man machine interface)
  • Data analysis and management
  • Stable takt support
  • Lean Manufacturing roll out and support
  • Quality Control Analysis - Conducting tests and inspections of products, services or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Organisation of German Network Support in Oxford : Managing flights, rental cars and accommodations for the associates

    We offer a competitive salary of £17,500 per annum and a range of benefits including a pension scheme, generous holiday allowance and a subsidised on-

    site restaurant. As an intern you will also have the opportunity to take part in the testing of new vehicles through one of our car schemes.

    Throughout your internship you will be supported by our experts in your chosen field, as well as being surrounded by many fellow interns.

    Stage 4 : Face to face interview / assessment centre with the hiring manager

  • Studying towards a 2 : 1 Bachelor degree - preferably in Engineering or Economics
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to identify complex problems, develop and evaluate options, and implement solutions
  • Strong time management skills
  • German language skills are an advantage
