Senior Microsoft UC Engineer
The Senior Microsoft UC Engineer role is a field-based role that is responsible for providing the technical skills to cover the full life cycle of a Microsoft UC solution, through pre-sales, design, scope, installation and support for our customers.
Working alongside the sales team and PSD department to provide technical expertise to resellers around the Microsoft UC product range including OCS, Lync, and Skype for Business and O365 Skype Online and Teams solutions.
Analyse and evaluate end users requirements to select the correct solution and features to provide customer solutions.
Produce proposal documents and statements of work to fit with resellers and end users requirements.
Attend customer sites to present and discuss proposed solutions.
Design, installation and configuration of Microsoft UC solutions.
Location : Field based from home. UK wide applications considered
Salary : Negotiable + Benefits package + Car Allowance.
Design of projects focussed around the Microsoft Unified Communications portfolio including OCS, Lync 2010, Lync 2013, and Skype for Business 2015, Skype for Business Online and Microsoft Teams including direct routing.
Network readiness assessments on customer networks in preparation of Microsoft solutions.
Installation and / or configuration of Microsoft UC environments including Enterprise Voice features and functionality.
Work alongside third party providers to deliver additional functionality to Skype for Business and Teams solutions
Review and feedback on customer specified solutions for compliance to best practice
Complete project and scope documentation to allow customer quotation and project scoping.
The Person :
You will have experience with Microsoft solutions focusing on the Unified Communications product suite. Extensive knowledge and experience of engineering a Microsoft Lync / Skype for Business UC technology service, both server and end point.
Good experience of integrating enterprise Voice & Video and Mobile applications. Knowledge of designing and deploying Group / Persistent Chat, Edge services and Federation.
Strong troubleshooting ability with extensive hands-on IT support experience, both back-end and user facing. Able to generate options and recommend solutions which are logical reasonable and realistic.
Experience of Microsoft Windows components, for example; Active Directory, Windows server, SQL Server. Ideally, you should hold the Microsoft Lync / Skype for Business certification exams or preferably a MCSE in communications.
Fundamental to this role :
Extremely well organised with good communication skills and excellent spoken / written English.
Experience deploying and troubleshooting Microsoft Lync / Skype for Business and Teams solutions.
Strong knowledge and experience of Skype Operations Framework
Experience of Cloud PBX, Cloud Connector or Direct Routing.
Applies knowledge and skills through handling problems beyond own area of expertise.
Experience of any of the following would be beneficial; Sonus / Ribbon SBC / SBA devices, Audiocodes SBC / SBA devices.
Skype for Business contact Centre Applications, Lync / Skype for Business / Teams handsets and Video conferencing devices.
