Overview of job

We are looking for a driven and strategically-minded Planning Manager to join the NOW TV team at MediaCom. The role offers the opportunity to work in an entertainment-

led category under the umbrella of Sky, the country’s biggest advertiser. We are a fun and friendly client team, within which you will manage a Senior Planner and Planner, as well as having plenty of time in front of key clients.

The challenges facing the streaming category present an exciting opportunity for the Planning Manager, as we look for ways to push boundaries and stay competitive in the market through our strategic comms planning.

The successful candidate will input across the entire campaign life cycle from strategy to execution.

Reporting of the role

This role reports to the Associate Director.

  • Measures of success

    In three months, you would have :

  • Taken on the day to day running of the account, becoming a go-to’ for clients
  • Developed relationships with key client contacts and internal teams
  • Shown evidence of a clear understanding of the client’s business and competitive landscape
  • Put in place key objectives for your team, as well as demonstrating management and delegation skills within the team
  • In six months, you would have :

  • Led and delivered (part of) a response to brief from start to finish
  • Shown clear evidence of creative thinking and story-telling skills
  • Attended and passed any training required at Manager level
  • In 12 months, you would have :

  • Delivered innovative and ground-breaking work that is highlighted as best in class
  • Continually driven collaboration across internal and external stakeholders to improve process
  • Raised your internal profile within the agency considerably
  • Responsibilities of the role :

    The Planning Manager should :

  • Have a refreshingly creative mind, with the ability deliver comms strategies through story-telling within your presentations
  • Work openly and collaboratively with Planning, Investment teams and external agencies in order to help develop strategic solutions, plans and innovative ideas
  • Be responsible for the seamless planning, execution and implementation of campaigns.
  • Be able to provide instantaneous campaign updates to senior management and clients
  • Manage all budgetary and financial information for all campaigns
  • Lean into agency initiatives that improve strategic planning output across all areas of Sky / NOW TV
  • Demonstrate an active interest in Sky’s business, marketplace and audiences, and identify relevant opportunities that arise
  • Develop excellent relationships with other departments that work on the account to help you get things done
  • Inspiring and managing the internal team. Doing and delegating where appropriate.
  • What you will need :

  • It’s a work hard, play hard group.
  • A keen eye for detail and a conscientious approach
  • Experience in cross channel media planning
  • Film & TV knowledge and enthusiasm not a pre-requisite but is a significant advantage.
  • Experience in people management
  • An inquisitive mind coupled with the ability to look beyond the obvious to help uncover insights that shape our communications strategies
  • An enthusiasm for creativity
  • A Marketing / Business / Advertising related degree and experience in a similar planning role at Manager level, with experience across both brand and trading campaigns
  • Impeccable written and oral communication skills, an engaging presenter and excellent storyteller
  • A thirst for learning about technology, trends, media, people, brands and the industry, and a passion for content and TV
  • Excellent organisational skills, meaning you are adept at managing a diverse workload and that of your team
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills with particular emphasis on Powerpoint, Excel and Word
  • An open and collaborative attitude
