Dynex Semiconductor Ltd have been manufacturing semiconductor products for over 60 years; providing IGBT, Bipolar, Power Assembly and Electric Vehicle System products to customers across the world.

We are seeking to appoint a Buyer to support the Company procurement activities to provide a cost effective and value added service.

The Role

The Buyer will have ownership and responsibility for a range of materials and services to support the business activities.

You will bring organisational skills to manage a wide range of existing suppliers. You will actively consolidate existing sources and challenge costs to deliver savings, whilst ensuring a competitive environment to reduce risk.

You will engage with suppliers to manage the order book and expedite outstanding orders to ensure that the production teams needs are fulfilled and that KPI’s are met.

About you

As the Buyer you will ideally be Level 4 MCIPS qualified (or working towards) and you will have worked in a similar role with a proven track record of delivering results.

You will need to be a good communicator, both within the business and with suppliers and must have the confidence and knowledge to challenge and negotiate with suppliers to protect the interests of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • The role will offer considerable variety with some of the day to day responsibilities including :
  • Ownership and responsibility for a wide ranging group of suppliers, in the UK, Europe, & Worldwide.
  • Supplier management including performance reviews covering quality, cost and delivery and taking appropriate action.
  • Identifying and sourcing new parts as required by production and other key stake holders.
  • Placing purchase orders within the ERP system.
  • Processing purchase requisitions for non-stock parts including obtaining quotes and price negotiation.
  • Supporting the teams cost and risk reduction initiatives.
  • Liaising with the production planning team and other key stake holders to ensure production and business needs are fulfilled.
  • Maintaining accurate and up to date procurement data in the ERP system.
  • Core Skills

  • Minimum 3 years procurement experience with a track record of purchasing good and services.
  • Ideally Level 4 MCIPS qualified (or working towards) and able to demonstrate experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of ERP systems and processes.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and systems is desirable.
  • Confident, pro-active attitude with the ability to influence and negotiate both within the business and with suppliers.
  • Experience of negotiating legal agreements including Supplier Long Term Agreements and NDA’s.
  • Able to cope with pressure and work in a fast paced environment.
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
