Overall Purpose of the Job :
Design and develop the electrical systems for custom robotic modules. Work within a small Electrical Engineering team, to design and specify sensors, motors, controls and undertake product testing and verification.
Key responsibilities :
Responsible for design / development, modification and evaluation of primarily electronic parts, components or controls / integrated circuitry for hardware and / or other systems.
Select and specify, sensors, motors, PCBs, wiring harness.
Work with team members from mechanical design, production and supply chain to introduce new products and products variations.
May contribute to total system engineering.
May be involved in all phases of design and development from initial concept to manufacturing.
Conducts experimental tests on equipment and evaluates results.
May also review vendors’ abilities to support development.
Depending on level, may function as a project engineer with the resident responsibilities of proposals, technical presentations, cross functional issue resolution, etc.
Expected to keep up to date on technical advances in the discipline and related fields.
Skills and Aptitude Profile :
BSc in Electrical, Electronic or Control Systems Engineering or equivalent.
3 years + experience
Experience in PCB schematic / layout using Altium Designer, ORCAD, or similar
Familiarity with PLM systems (eg Oracle / Agile, or similar)
Experience within a controls product development background and / or PLC Design is desirable
Good working knowledge of SolidWorks / AutoCAD or other electrical design CAD systems is preferred
