We’ve grown to become a leading UK general insurer and financial services organisation, focusing on those people who live and work in the countryside.
Our success is down to our dedication to outstanding customer service, a commitment you’ll continue at our York office.
Working Hours : 35 hours per week, Monday Friday between the hours of 8am and 6pm. Work-life balance is really important to us here at NFU Mutual, and so you will not be required to work evenings and weekends (although optional overtime is sometimes available).
How can we underwrite a piece of business? How can we do the right thing for the customer? That’s how we think here at NFU Mutual, and it’s how we like all our underwriters to think too.
It’s less no, more yes. And that makes working with us altogether more satisfying and more rewarding.
As an Underwriter, you’ll predominantly work with colleagues in our Agency network. An agent will come to you for help on underwriting their customers’ business.
You’ll analyse it, assess the risks and work out the best way to do this at the best price. You’ll then propose and negotiate policy terms, including appropriate limitations and endorsements.
You’ll review and check insurance quote submissions, referrals and amendments, talking to the relevant agent to establish material facts to ensure new business and policy changes meet NFU Mutual underwriting criteria.
Like us, your first instinct is how to make something happen. You’re the sort of person who’ll look and think beyond the obvious to find a solution that will work for the customer and for our business.
You’ve plenty of common sense and you’re thorough too; eagled-eye, never-miss-a-detail thorough. You’re also great at building strong working relationships.
Of course, underwriting experience would be great. But more than anything, it’s outlook and personality that matter. Like everyone here at NFU Mutual, you take the time to do things properly, to put the customer first to help them achieve what they want to achieve.
