In a nutshell, we build buses and coaches. In fact, we are the world’s biggest double deck bus manufacturer. We have a huge responsibility for keeping the world moving.
We are saving the planet. Our purpose is to support Governments globally with their push to reduce pollution and improve air quality by building greener, more eco-friendly buses.
We love our customers. So much so, almost every bus we build is bespoke what the customer wants, we will do our best to deliver.
We have a fantastic Canadian parent company called NFI. They welcomed us into the family in 2019, and we haven’t looked back ever since.
There is no doubt about it it was a tough 2020 for Alexander Dennis. But now we are building back and growing again, winning new orders in Germany and Ireland which will be manufactured right here in the UK.
Our global footprint is pretty impressive. We have a presence in some super cool places across the world from Hong Kong to Auckland to North America.

Your Dream Role
We are looking for a Head of Logistics to join our successful, global business which is leading the ZEvolution the drive towards zero emissions.
A real opportunity for you to transform the way we do things defining the Group logistics strategy, leading the implementation across all sites, and managing freight around the world.
Lead and develop Logistics and Duty teams, driving a culture of continuous improvement.
Our customers mean a lot to us. Drive improvement projects to reduce and optimise cost while improving customer service.
Use your excellent negotiation skills to negotiate with vendors, establishing a process to have a yearly tender to achieve the best possible tariffs.
Define and manage the Group annual budget together with the sites while also monitoring monthly spend vs budget, supporting the sites to achieve their individual targets.
Perform deep dive analysis to understand spend root causes and corrective actions.
Support any plant or department to establish process and forwarders for new routes or shipments. Drive Forwarders rationalisations, ensuring we partner with the best fit for ADL.
Ensure our sites and departments have all the tools, training, and anything necessary to perform at its best.
We are a fast-paced business with often competing priorities. Work cross functionally internally and externally to deliver business and customer requirements.
Roles like this don’t come along often you will have exposure to a wide range of stakeholders and complex projects globally.
Experience in a similar position, working for a similarly challenging and complex business.
Ideally, this experience will be from the Manufacturing industry, and you will have experience of developing and implementing a logistics strategy.
You will be a subject matter expert for Freight, Packaging, Duty, Warehousing, and Incoterms.
Experienced in leading and managing remote teams and different logistics suppliers globally.
Things can be hectic here. You will be someone who isn’t afraid of a rolling their sleeves up as this is a busy, hands-on position.
Solid commercial and business acumen as you will regularly negotiate with our suppliers. You will also have experience of dealing with 3rd party logistics suppliers.
Relationship building will come easily to you - across all levels of seniority, internally and externally with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive change.
You won’t be afraid to challenge the status quo, constantly striving to improve the way we do things, with the ability to manage multiple projects at any one time.
Warehousing / packaging / duty and trade compliance experience.
Generally, someone who is pro-active, well organised, and motivated for high level performance.
Ideally Degree educated to Bachelor or Master level in an appropriate discipline.
Membership of CILT preferred.
Six Sigma certification desirable.
A Project Management qualification is also desirable.
