RoleOverview :

We havean exciting opportunity for a General Manager to join our business,primarily based in Glasgow. You will be responsible for managing and leadingthe Glasgow Schools Lifecycle Joint Venture Company ( a joint venture betweenGalliford Try and Amey), administering a Lifecycle fund with annual expenditurepeaking at £15m, with 11 years of the concession period to run.

The estatecomprises of 29 Secondary and 1 Primary school, being a mixture of new-build andrefurbished properties which joined the project in 2000.

KeyResponsibilities :

  • Representing the Glasgow LCJV in day to day activities, often being in contact with the project SPV, 3ED, and Glasgow City Council
  • Attend bi-weekly and monthly Service Provider meetings with all stakeholders
  • Preparation of monthly Board Reports
  • Delivery and presentation of monthly reports at Board level
  • Programming and scheduling of works to the satisfaction of both 3ED and Glasgow City Council
  • Containing and optimising annual spend to ensure maximum value for money is extracted
  • Management of budgets, forecasts and cash flow
  • Interpretation of contractual and client requirements
  • Delivery of contractual obligations under a complex PFI structure
  • Preparation of scope of works
  • Tendering and procuring packages of work up to £1m
  • Management of supply chain
  • Discharging of all conditions pertaining to Planning Consent
  • Compliance with CDM Regulations
  • Responsible for Health & Safety on all project sites
  • General people management
  • Skillsand Experience :

  • Minimum 5 years post qualification experience in a management role in a construction or FM environment essential
  • Must possess and be able to clearly articulate sound knowledge of Building Regulations and demonstrate experience of implementation of the requirements of the regulations and monitoring of compliance
  • Experience of operating in the PFI arena would be advantageous
  • Likely minimum qualified to Degree level in a building, construction or FM discipline
  • Commercially focussed and a good understanding of financial and business information
  • Sound knowledge of applicable project & construction legislation and its impact on the business
  • Health & Safety, and CDM knowledge and experience
  • Experience of managing people
  • Subcontractor management
  • The ability to establish good relationships with internal and external team members and stakeholders
  • Good presentation and training skills both internally and client facing
  • Analysing & Reporting
  • Able to write clearly and succinctly in a logical and structured way linked to good analysis skills to produce practical solutions, reports and advice to complex issues
