We have a fantastic opportunity for a talented sales executive to sell classified print and display digital advertising space across the group of titles in line with the sales policy and objectives set by the Head of Classified.


  • Maintain and service existing classified advertisers on a regular basis to maximise revenue in both print and digital
  • Canvass for new business from competitive magazines, regional print and other sources to grow markets and increase revenue and market share in both print and digital
  • Maximise the number of calls, both incoming and outgoing, and ensure the optimum percentage of time is spent on the telephone to existing and new clients to maximise selling opportunities.
  • Call rates should be a minimum of 60 per day with an average talk time of two hours

  • Remain consistently aware of clients’ circumstances, business / market trends, magazine changes and budgets to remain informed and maintain a high level of professionalism
  • Utilise all available sales aids and marketing information to convert classified business across all the titles
  • Negotiate simple business arrangements with customers using Company policies and guidelines
  • Keep the Head of Classified informed at all times of all queries / complaints and deal with them as designated by the Head of Classified in order to maintain good client relations
  • Maintain organised correspondence, filing and contact-management records to enable others to cover during absence
  • Initiate ideas to help build marketplaces and develop classified features to enable Hearst Direct to maintain our position as market leader
  • Assist in covering other sections within Hearst Direct when necessary, as requested by the Head of Classified.
