G-Research is a leading quantitative research and technology company. By using the latest scientific techniques, we produce world-
beating predictive research and build advanced technology to analyse the world’s data.
In 2017 we established the Technology Innovation Group (TIG), with a mission to continuously discover, map and put to test new technologies and approaches across the entire stack that might benefit the business as a whole.
ranging from storage arrays to machine learning libraries and cloud-native solutions, building proof-of-concepts and prototypes collaborating with the rest of the business.
There is hardly any limit to what we test : in the last year alone, we’ve got our hands dirty on cloud-based big-data solutions, data lakes, novel data-
stores, containerisation, machine learning, hardware infrastructure and new kinds of compute technology.
As a Hybrid Cloud Engineer (AWS), you will be central to supporting the wider business in evaluating public and private cloud offerings, and collaborating in the development of cloud-
native and hybrid cloud solutions. This is a dynamic role supporting multiple kinds of projects running in the lab and cloud from different areas in the business simultaneously.
The responsibilities of the role include :
Who are we looking for?
A key challenge for all the members of TIG is to cut through the noise of the never-stopping flow of new technologies being released into the wild to cherry-
pick the interesting ones to be put to the test. This requires you to have a real passion for innovation, as well as a solid and proven track-
record in building cloud-based solutions, ideally with multi-year experience using both private and public clouds.
You’ll also need to effectively interact and support staff from across the business and build secure cloud-backed environments for them to test in.
So you will need to be a very effective communicator as well as fluent in all the quirks and secrets of securing cloud environments while not affecting too much of the freedom of users working on their proof-of-concepts.
You will have experience of the following :
