You will be a highly numerate, self-motivated problem solver, able to analyse large-scale numerical datasets. Your work will lead to new methods and algorithms in image analysis, signal processing or statistical inference, and your involvement will extend to the implementation and testing.

You will work in multi-disciplinary teams, alongside scientists from diverse backgrounds such as optics, chemistry and life sciences.

We are seeking exceptional individuals who enjoy working in a highly collaborative and fast paced R&D environment. Your responsibilities may include :

  • Optimising DNA sequencing instrumentation and data from laboratory assays
  • Developing efficient methods for image analysis and signal processing
  • Investigating and modelling performance of technical methods
  • Implementing numerical algorithms in C, C++
  • Interfacing with scientists from different disciplines across multiple sites
  • We seek demonstrated accomplishment in some or all of the following skills :

  • Problem solving with a high degree of numeracy
  • Applied analysis and modelling of physical, chemical or abstract systems
  • Application of statistical inference in a research environment; for example, Bayesian, maximum likelihood and other parameter estimation methods, machine learning, clustering algorithms or Monte-Carlo sampling
  • Research experience in image analysis or graphics and visualisation techniques
  • Scientific software development experience in C or C++; familiarity with scripting languages such as Python is a plus
