About the role

Tesco Maintenance are currently looking to recruit an Engineering Manager. At Tesco, our distribution centres, stores and offices couldn’t function without the support of our Maintenance Team.

This role is an integral part of this team, leading a team to deliver exceptional service to customer across the wider business.

You will be responsible for

  • Ensuring there is a safe environment for those who work and visit in our Distribution centre and offices
  • Building effective relationships and communicating clearly with my stakeholders, managing expectations where required -I am key part of automation engineering and maintenance team
  • Delivering engineering automation maintenance to ensure minimum equipment downtime
  • Managing contractor performance whilst on site to ensure the most effective and efficient fix, safely.
  • Driving problem solving, including identifying key issues and developing effective solutions
  • Ensuring we make the right fix, on time, every time and utilise Verisae and My Property as enablers
  • Managing my budgets effectively and to target , always being cost conscious
  • Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence
  • I support and lead Business support out of hours / weekends via a Duty process
  • I support the delivery of a pest Free environment
  • Effectively manage, coordinate and develop the maintenance and engineer teams on site.
  • Following the Tesco asset condition models and standards
  • Coach mentor and conduct performance management reviews with site teams
  • Lead engineering issues in resolution of faults and outages.
  • You will need

  • Technical / Engineering qualification to degree level or based on experience in a similar role
  • Proven background in managing a large distribution centre with an industrial or material handling environment, PLC controlled systems.
  • Good understanding of electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics
  • Good experience of CMMS / PPM planning and stock
  • Excellent people management skills with the ability to grow and develop a team
  • Commercially aware and experienced in managing run and repair budgets
  • Strong communications skills and stakeholder management
