Autism Specialist Tutor required in North Derbyshire (Alfreton)

Part time, starting ASAP!

Teaching Personnel are recruiting for an experienced Tutor with knowledge and ideally experience working with young people who are on the Autistic Spectrum.

The student has communication difficulties so would benefit from a tutor with some Makaton and PECS experience, however this is not essential.

The student is Year 10 and is working at Below ARE so will require a tutor who can help him to engage in the KS4 curriculum.

He does not currently have a school place so this tuition will take place in the residential home in which he resides in, while the Local Authority look for a provision for him.

About the Role :

  • 1 : 1 Tuition for a Year 10 LAC student with ASC
  • Up to 25 hours a week (minimum 15 hours per week)
  • In person, in the student’s care home
  • Working materials and resources will need to be provided by the tutor
  • Focus on KS4 curriculum and providing additional emotional / behavioural support
  • Who we are looking for :

  • People who are comfortable lone working and communicating with local authorities and care home staff
  • Previous experience working with LAC students and students with Autism and other SEN
  • Tutors who can plan, produce, and teach engaging cross curricular lessons with a particular focus around Maths, English and Science.
  • Requirements :

  • Teachers with QTS
  • Previous experience teaching KS4
  • Experience of teaching and working with children with ASC
  • Child workforce DBS on the update service (or willing to apply for one through Teaching Personnel)
