The opportunity

Project : Building a fleet of safe, reliable nuclear power stations in the UK to secure a low-carbon energy future. The project is a diverse and collaborative organisation committed to engaging stakeholders, obtaining development consent and preparing for the construction of the power station.

With the construction of the recent project successfully underway, the client is now developing plans to build a further power station in the east of England.

Mace has been supporting the client on the development of the nuclear project since 2011 and continues to act as a key framework supplier under a variety of workstreams.

The role will be defining the work scope to be delivered within the contract or package of work and the interfaces to the other elements of the programme.

In partnership with the commercial teams, ensuring that contract or package contractual requirements are fulfilled.

Your responsibilities will include :

Writing, developing and implementing strategies, plans and integrated construction sequences in line with the overall programme execution plan (PEP), setting out how the programme of work will be managed, organised and executed.

Maintaining effective communications with all stakeholders and executing the project or PEP strategies within their contract or package of work.

Developing and implementing programme and project delivery definition plans. Managing risks and mitigation plans together with opportunities and delivery plans.

Driving the delivery of the contract or package activities through their lifecycle from feasibility, design, planning, procurement and delivery to ensure they are delivered safely, on time, to budget, meeting business and technical requirements.

Integrating contracts and packages with other interfacing programmes to ensure the best project delivery.

Promoting and delivering innovation that delivers the best for project outcomes.

Anticipating, managing and resolving issues within the contract or package, together with integrated construction sequences.

Identifying risks and facilitate the resolution of all issues raised, develop and update the programme budget, and escalate any issues to the delivery manager (senior project manager or director).

Establishing working relationships with the existing teams, and understanding where project information is stored, and / or can be accessed to provide rapid updates to technical queries that are submitted from suppliers and wider stakeholders.

Ensuring schedules are developed and maintained for the contract or package of work. Ensure such schedules are consistent with overall project schedules.

Escalate any discrepancies to the senior project manager and monthly reports.

Managing the list of deliverables (LOD), master equipment lists, master procurement plans relating to the scope of work is delivered.

Preparing monthly reports and apply the principles of KPI’s, forecasts and earned value management (EVM).
