The Company

  • In a nutshell, we build buses and coaches. In fact, more than half of the buses you see on the roads in the UK and Hong Kong are built by Alexander Dennis.

  • We are saving the planet. Our purpose is to support Governments globally with their push to reduce pollution and improve air quality by building greener, more eco-friendly buses.

  • There is no doubt about it it was a tough 2020 for Alexander Dennis. But now we are building back, winning new orders in Germany and Ireland which will be manufactured right here in the UK.
  • Our global footprint is pretty impressive. We have a presence in some super cool places across the world from Hong Kong to Auckland to Toronto.

    Your Dream Role

  • First and foremost, you will lead, motivate and manage the Commercial Finance team, working with the wider Finance function.
  • Our customers mean a lot to us. You’ll play a key and strategic role in helping us grow our sales and margins with both new and existing markets.
  • You’ll work with new and existing customers, supporting them in the development of new and innovative funding mechanisms.
  • You’ll have oversight and provide the financial rigour to the tender and cost of production processes across the EMEA region.
  • You and your team will be responsible for financial reporting activities and audits, as well as the annual budget and long-range planning.
  • What’s more, you’ll consolidate sales, cost of production and margin for the whole Group.

  • Opportunities like this don’t come along often you will have exposure to a wide range of projects and senior stakeholders globally.
  • About You

  • Experience in a similar commercial finance leadership role within a similarly complex and challenging business.
  • Highly numerate, analytical and technically competent and experience in management reporting.
  • More importantly, you will be great at presenting complex financial information in simple terms to non-financial audiences.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships, influence and negotiate both internally and externally.
  • Advanced IT skills and competent user of ERP / financial software / Business Intelligence packages and of course Excel.
  • Things can be hectic here. You will remain calm under pressure, be able to multi-task and deliver projects on time against competing priorities.
  • You won’t be afraid to challenge the status quo, constantly striving to improve the way we do things.
  • Generally, someone who is approachable, with a strong work ethic and a desire to succeed.
  • Requirements

  • A professional accountancy qualification - ICAS, CIMA, ICAEW or equivalent
