What is the opportunity?

  • The Investment Counsellor (IC) is responsible for providing advisory and discretionary investment solutions to High Net Worth (HNW) and Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) clients aligned to our house views and investment policy
  • Demonstrating extensive client facing and investments experience, ICs will proactively partner with Sales and Relationship Management (S&RM) teams to articulate the investment proposition, develop and implement advisory as well as our core discretionary solutions
  • ICs will manage a variety of clients and their investment portfolios providing rebalancing solutions as required ensuring required alignment of asset allocation within client’s investment objectives and risk tolerance.
  • What will you do?

  • The post holder will provide quality advisory and discretionary investment management solutions and services to High and Ultra High Net Worth clients of Wealth Management International (WMI) with appropriate coverage by specific client segment
  • Promote and communicate internally the strengths and capabilities of WMI Investment Services across all product capabilities with focus on discretionary portfolio management or advisory mandates as well as through satellite ideas from relevant product specialist areas (structured products, hedge funds, etc.) as appropriate
  • Be portfolio manager for modelled discretionary solutions and investment adviser for clients requiring our advisory services
  • Align and partner with S&RM and with specified target segments to assist in business development and strategic planning in partnership with those RM’s.
  • Be seen as the point of reference for all investment services

  • Develop and provide investment solutions suitable and appropriate for client’s requirements and risk appetite that meet or exceed their expectations
  • Monitor portfolios for performance and advice in line with long term strategic asset allocation views and shorter term tactical views as appropriate
  • As the cornerstone of the IC function when required and suitable, recommend adjustments to portfolio in line with WMI’s investment view
  • Accept client advisory transaction orders and handle them in accordance with policy and best practice
  • Source relevant approved offerings, information and idea creation from product specialist groups within WMI including Structured Products, Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange and Fund Solutions as appropriate
  • Be a strong team player supporting fellow ICs, working closely with all support staff as well as other members of the Investments team.
  • Must-have

  • Educated to Graduate or Masters level
  • FCA Registered (CF 30) and RDR compliant (PCIAM) - Level 6
  • Demonstrate extensive financial markets, investments, securities and trade execution experience and an understanding of complex investment strategies and asset allocation concepts
  • Evidence extensive direct client facing advisory and discretionary investment management experience specifically within the HNW / UHNW client segments and across all asset classes
  • Be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of regulatory and legal framework surrounding a financial services business and the expected behavioral attributes so as to be aligned to our cultural attribute of doing what is right for the client
  • Demonstrate strong inter-personal and written communication skills, pro-activity and self-motivated temperament, analytical and critical thinking skills including ability to interpret data, extensive teamwork, organization and time management skills with ability to prioritize and re-prioritise tasks
  • Have extensive software skills including proficiency in use of relevant systems (Office applications, Bloomberg etc.), strong research skills and ability to perform quickly and accurately.
