You will be a part of the Data Management and Engineering team. The team are the custodians of the DATA&AI CDH cloud service offering being deployed onto Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
The role will be a part of the team spearheading the deployment of DATA&AI service in to GCP. The team are responsible for development, deployment and upkeep of the Cloud "landing zone" - a set of standardised services, security controls and patterns for adoption.
The team build Cloud product lines to meet the features of application tenants. The team are also consulted in the implementation supporting the adoption of GCP services in solutions supporting our customer facing units.
You'll have the following responsibilities
Responsible for maintaining and extending the 'landing zone' capabilities to support new business requirements and security considerations.
Furthermore, standardising and packaging GCP services into the DATA&AI catalogue of services
Innovating and extending the cloud engineering teams engineering quality through code management, build and deployment pipelines, adopt CI / CD to enhance the speed, reliability and repeatability of core common services features.
You will put in place canary based solutions to prove the release of features and focus on quality to ensure we are successful in operating a platform at scale for Data&AI.
Support and lay foundation for large scale migration from on-prem to Google cloud platform.
Provide infrastructure solutions for complex cloud migrations and native cloud application developments.
Deploy various GCP services including Projects, VPC, Firewall rules etc as and when required by the engineering teams
Networking - Design and configure VPN- s, CDN- s, Interconnect, and DNS solutions
Perform hands-on Identity & Access Management(IAM) in high availability, highly scalable environments
Work on a variety of tools and functions including; GKE, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, VPC, Subnets.
You'll have the following skills & experience
Excellent communication skills, often being able to compromise but draw out risks and constraints associated with solutions
You will have a DevSecOps mindset, with security being job number one
Be able to work independently and collaborate with other BT teams
Have experience working as a part of a team using agile methodologies
You will have extensive hands on experience of 1+ years of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or similar
Have experience in the build of Cloud based infrastructures through IaC (Infrastructure as Code) and be competent in CloudFormation / Terraform
You will have working knowledge of software engineering tools - Gitlab, Jenkins (or other CI / CD tools) and will be familiar with the equivalent services on GCP.
Sound knowledge of Configuration management technologies such as YAML
Have knowledge of how to apply both native Cloud monitoring services in GCP.
You should also hold or be preparing for an GCP - Professional Network Engineer certification.
It would be desirable but not essential to have
Experience with container technologies like GKE
Experience with serverless architectures in the cloud
