Purpose of the role :

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the development of EE Systems within an OEM. As a member of the Electrical Systems team, you will be part of a core systems design & development team focused on systems for future McLaren sports cars.

You will be responsible for integration of a variety of electrical & electronic systems, defining technology roadmaps and following that roadmap, developing technology through the engineering lifecycle, into production.

Principal accountabilities :

  • Support departments in the business in integrating new EE systems into new vehicles.
  • Define the features, attributes, system design, functional, non-functional and validation requirements from the earliest of concept stages.
  • Work on roadmaps and technology demonstrators to help define how McLaren utilises technologies in the future.
  • Lead McLaren’s EMC and Load Balance attributes; and other EE transversal requirements.
  • Responsible for managing these attributes and their roadmaps for improvement.
  • Responsible for the technical definition and validation of these attributes throughout the McLaren Development Process.
  • You will have multi system, multi vehicle responsibility and will help shape the vehicle electrical architecture in the future.

    Knowledge, skills & experience :

  • Higher degree qualified in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience of bespoke systems design & development, systems engineering & the engineering V-lifecycle within an OEM or tier 1.
  • Direct experience of Vehicle Level or Component Level EMC test definition, or a willingness to develop in this area with a view of becoming an expert.
  • Experience with any of the following would be advantageous : Vehicle Homologation, Functional Safety (ISO26262), Usage Life Profiles, Environmental Testing, electrical load analysis and management.
  • Experience with Vector automotive products (or equivalent) e.g. CANoe, CANape, CANalyser would be advantageous. Matlab & Simulink experience would be advantageous.
  • A valid UK driving licence.
