Role & Responsibilties :

  • Lead and manage legal support for multi-national supply chain and technical operations transactions (e.g. supply agreements, contract manufacture agreements, contract packing agreement and supply chain support on business development deals).
  • Advise the supply chain and technical operations teams on supply chain routings and associated contractual matters and work with external legal counsel to implement and maintain the integrity of this structure.
  • Support (with a supply chain and technical operations focus) local, national and regional business development deals when necessary.
  • Provide advisory support on alliance management issues arising from existing multi-national business development partnerships (including dispute resolution).
  • Whilst the primary focus of the role will be the support of supply chain and technical operations activities, there will be scope to provide legal support on one or more product "Asset Teams", providing end-
  • to-end legal advice on all Asset-specific issues, with a focus on :

  • Review and approval of promotional, non-promotional and PR materials for compliance with marketing codes of practice, competition law, anti-
  • corruption law, data privacy laws, and to minimise the risk of third party claims; and

  • General legal support to the marketing, medical affairs, market access, corporate and brand communications, and events teams.
  • As an Asset lawyer, the candidate will also provide advice on all other aspects of the law affecting the Asset (including R&D, regulatory, manufacturing, supply chain, drug safety and quality assurance) as may be required by the Asset Team and with support from other specialist lawyers in the Cambridge Legal team.

  • Managing litigation and other disputes as and when required.
  • Contribute to the review, updating and improvement of standard form contracts and templates.
  • Provide training to the business on relevant areas of law and legal procedures.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant EU law, including pharmaceutical regulatory, IP, competition and data privacy law.
  • Research legal issues as required.
  • As required, assist with and advise on legal matters affecting the independent associated companies.
  • Assist from time to time with Legal and Compliance projects (e.g. social media policy; competition law guidance; confidential information policy etc.).
  • Share know-how and collaborate with other members of the Legal team to ensure consistent, quality advice.
  • Brief the Principal Legal Adviser, on material legal issues relating to independent associated companies to which legal support is being provided
  • Qualified as a lawyer in the UK (3+ years PQE)
  • Degree qualified
  • Strong transactional / contract law experience
  • Advantageous :
  • experience of the life sciences industry and related law, including supply chain, IP and data privacy law.

    management of complex licensing / collaboration deals.

    experience of the UK's ABPI Code of Practice.

    demonstrable interest in the pharmaceutical industry and / or healthcare.
