A successful Local Authority based in East London is seeking a highly skilled Information Governance Manager to join their team immediately.

The ideal candidate would have experience leading and developing an effective Information Governance within a public sector organisation.

Your duties will include :

  • Creating, developing and maintaining an Information Governance framework for the Council to ensure compliance with all regulations and legislation including, the Data Protection Act 1998, the Freedom of Information Act 2000, The Computer Misuse Act 1990, Environmental Information Regulations 2004 and the Re-
  • use of Public Sector Information Regulations 2005

  • Leading the development and implementation of Council wide plans in response to legislative changes
  • To lead the changes necessary to ensure that the Council will be compliant with the general data protection regulation

  • Being a source of expertise on all matters relating to Information Governance and act as the Council's designated Data Protection Officer
  • Responsible for all Freedom of Information and Environmental Information request reviews received by the Council.
  • To provide expert guidance in the case of information exemptions, public interest tests and privacy impact assessments
  • To be responsible for the Council's designated officer responsible for all liaisons with the Office of the Information Commissioner, including the preparation of material in respect of critical data breaches, Freedom of Information decision notices and Tribunal hearings
  • To be responsible for the annual statutory Information Governance Toolkit return and associated action plans
  • To be responsible for the oversight and implementation of appropriate privacy notices, sharing agreements, information asset registers and retention schedules so that the Council is fully compliant with legislation
  • You must also have excellent communication skills, be capable of working under pressure, demonstrate good self-organisation, political sensitivity and attention to detail, be able to work effectively in a team and have a commitment to flexibility.

    It is desirable if you have experience of FOI casework will be required for these posts.
